But the whole concept of "growing your tastes" is based completely on opinion. |
If it's purely based on opinion, why do we see the same pattern happen over and over again with people?

I see many of the longtime posters in this thread throwing around red herrings and beating the bush to avoid responding to this statement: no one cares that you think track X sucks and track Y is better. |
Clearly you do, you wouldn't even had bothered to make a thread like this if someone hadn't struck a nerve. You take the internet a bit too seriously for your own good. |

Just because I made this thread doesn't mean I all of the sudden take this subject seriously.
How else could I make an observation on here without posting? |

I agree. There are some that are complete pricks with their responses and it's obvious they're hating life (or something) -- however, if you put a muzzle on them then you're accused of censorship and/or 'masking' the truth.
It's a slippery slope... and one that has always been a challenge with moderating posts on TA. I don't expect it to all be a group hug full of unicorns and candy canes but the time some of you spend on writing a completely negative(almost useless) reply is baffling. |

I blame Swamper. |

| Nobody cares what you have to say about anything, and yet you still post. Now apply the same reasoning to everyone else and you're done. |

There's a difference between someone disagreeing with someone's taste in music, and discussing what they do or don't like about a track/genre/whatever, and someone who posts "this song is terrible." One is actually participating in a discussion, the other is trying (and failing) to prove that they have better taste in music than someone else.
It's not so much that "nobody cares if you like x and not y," as much as it is "you liking x and not y, does not mean that x is good music and y is bad music."
Regardless, people aren't going to stop trolling legitimate music discussions because some people feel the need to believe that their taste is the only good taste. |

But the majority are the "this song is terrible" type.
It doesn't matter what track/genre you post about, you're going to get 2-3 trolls per thread going "this is so bad :stongue: " or "this DJ is a joke now compared to what he used to be".
Then the OP won't respond to them, and not give them attention. But they keep doing it in every thread anyway.
Why the do they keep wasting their time? It doesn't benefit either side. |

| It probably makes them feel a little better about themselves to try and believe that they are the almighty judge and ruler of musical taste. |

How else could I make an observation on here without posting? | One can make observations without posting anything at all. It's not that I even disagree with you but do you honestly think you're the first one to make this observation?
Whining isn't going to change anything - in fact, I'd say it usually just makes things worse with the backlash of feedback. If you're not a part of the solution, you're a part of the problem. |

You have to acknowledge a problem before you can fix it.
Also I used to troll music discussion threads, then I realized how stupid it was and I stopped doing it. |

Is it just me, or is this car sexy as hell? Has anyone ever driven one, because that car (aside from the Hyundai insignia) looks about $30,000 more than it's worth.
