What is known about Freemasons???

My grandfather was a Scotish Rite Freemason but he passed away when I was seven years old. Aside from what I found on wikipedia and the local lodge webpages there still is a lot of questions about them that I have. I have contacted a couple secrataries at some of the lodges here in the Toronto West district but thought I would open this up to you guys to see what you say, nice change in topics from all the political stuff. Being a member a fraternity myself, I have always been interested in eventually becoming a mason but really do want to get some more information before I petition a lodge.

Is anyone here a mason?

Do you have any idea how many conspriracy theories there are about freemasons? If you can join, you should join and tell us about their plans for world domination and other conspiracy theories lol

i have a ring passed on from my grandfather who was in a coal miner's chapter in wales, it was the only subject he wouldn't talk about. i wear it sometimes just as a keepsake and the reactions i get from people amuse me. some people seem very offended... a few have gone on to say that any freemason is aware and working towards the new world order. one even implied it symbolizes white supremacy... i guess my grandfather was in a "progressive" chapter then, as he was half british, half bajan :P

and of course no one can name any specific examples of wrongdoing from the freemasons, they just tend to be mentioned in the same breath as Alex Jones quotes... i looked quite a bit online and there's not really any solid information on what makes the freemasons malevolent in any way.

I thought we were going to talk about These Guys

As for the other Freemasons...from what I've heard there were a few Freemasons on my Mom's side, and the only way that it can be passed down is if a Freemason chooses to tell their blood relative, and that younger generation cannot ask about it at any point in their life, otherwise the invitation is void. Don't know how much truth there is to that.

Also - I'd like to see a pic of the ring!
