What do you mean by "blackface" in this context, exactly? I know the origin of the term, just not sure how you are using it. |
It's a metaphor for appropriating historical black music samples on top of distinctly non-black music for entertainment value and authenticity. |

That's the up and coming in techno. I'm being serious. The idea is to take techno back to cybotron days and have dj's cutting and switching instead of seamless blending dj safe intro's and outro's. Mark my words the days of the 12 minute tracks are numbered. The pendulum of track duration is headed in the other direction (on the whole, of course there's always exceptions). |

What track was this thread on?
Do you all just want to read posts like
"Cool, can't wait for it to come out!"
and
"I like tracks 5-11!"
and
"Shed can do no wrong"
and
"Sounds pretty crap to me, yo!"
?
Ok, let's get it right back on track! |
sometimes. :(
but yes, back 'off' track, please. |

I think it more has to do with with fitting the tracks on the actual CD.
Outside of a DJing perspective, it simply would have been nice if some of these tracks were longer just so they had more room to breathe and develop. It still works here, but I keep imagining how some of these tracks could have been were they longer, purely for listening reasons. Hopefully we'll get extended versions or something. |

| Since you can loop almost anything via cdjs or traktor/serato now, long dj intros/outros are becoming pointless. |

yeah, i'm not talking about a DJ-friendly into/outro though. some of these songs would have been more awesome in general if they were longer. |
