Moving Help!!! (Currently Have Shaw, Rogers or Bell Better?)
View this Thread in Original format

I am moving at the end of the month, into a Rogers Exclusive building, but the Landlord has permitted me to keep my Shaw service, as long as I dont have it on the side of the building or on the roof, which means I have to get a Tri-Pod no big deal.

But I want to know if Rogers or Bell are better, as I have seen that Rogers is offering Free PVR if you switch from Satellite.

Does anyone know of any promotions going on that I haven't found yet?

I tried to call Shaw to see if they would give me the PVR and Tri-Pod for free to keep me, but to no avail, I am going to try again though.

But I am just wondering if I should switch, and tell Shaw to go f-themselves, does anyone know of any good deals with Bell or Rogers, and if so where can they be found.

Better yet does anyone work for Bell or Rogers here that can help me out LOL

Appreciate the feed back thanks.

Well, to be honest I hate Rogers with a passion BUT I now view them as the lesser of two evils. I've had Rogers for years and years and have always had issues with them, not so much in the services, just their billing practices ect. So I finally said screw it and switched to Bell about six months ago for cable/internet but kept the cell phones. Well that was a HUGE mistake!!!! Bell was even worse!!! The cable was brutal, and I mean the actual service. The channels were all different volumes and the commercials were way louder than the shows (I've noticed this with Rogers but to a MUCH less degree). Then I got my bill, and that's where the real problem were. It was such a mess, and even after calling them several times nobody there could even figure out what happened. There were all these weird charges and discounts that just didn't add up. They kept saying things would be corrected on the next bill, and some were, but then there would even more weird charges that they couldn't explain. It took four months to get it resolved.

Anyway, I ended up canceling everything and going back to Rogers again and I'm so glad I did. Even though I was only gone a month when I called them back they still gave me the free PVR box and 20% off my bill for 24 months, oh and free TMN. So I'm definitely glad to be back with Rogers and have learned that although they are a pain to deal with, it much better than the other options (or at least Bell).

Rant over...

You guys know why commercials are broadcast louder than the program right??

I'm aware that commercials are always louder, but this was WAY louder! Even when I called Bell about it they said it was just because it was a new install and the the volumes would level out, but it never did. Even the volume from channel to channel was all over, and I don't mean a little bit. I'm pretty easing going but I couldn't stand having to ride the remote volume all the time...

They both suck when it comes to billing issues and getting through to them when you have a problem, but Rogers is definitely the better service.

My internet craps out for a few hours almost every week (with Bell), and even when it's working it's not nearly the same speed as a cable connection would be.

On the TV side of things I've only ever had Rogers and my friends who use Bell are constantly complaining about losing signal intermittently, whereas Rogers is Digital and much more reliable.

if the satellite dish was installed properly then they should only lose signal during poor weather conditions. ask them to check if the mast (the pole where the dish is mounted) is fully secured with anchors to the wall. also check if any of the bolts/nuts that adjust the the dish elevation and azimuth are tight. also check if the LNB is secured properly to the arm.

Yes but do you know WHY they're louder???

Their dish was installed by amateurs. I used to do instalations during the DirecTV heyday, and never had any problem getting 90% for anyone in the GTA, 75% were in the high-90s. Even trees didn't matter much with strong signals like these.

They've been louder than shows from the getgo. Commercials will do what they can to get and keep your attention. That's their purpose.

Yeah, I assume it's to grab your attention and wake you up from being zoned into the show...

P.S. I actually had the Bell internet and TV on their new service which is through the telephone line (fiber-optic) and it still sucked.
