| I waited in line for 2 hours and just gave up, sold my presale and got 4 dollar cocktails across the street. |

damn what time did you show up that you couldn't get in w/ a presale ticket? my friends had only rsvpd, we showed up at 6...first 3 of us got in then they cut it off. my 3 other friends waited 45 min and then they let them in.
i noticed the same thing with lee - he seemed too messed up to be playing. on the roof top he just looked out of it. and then around 7:30 i saw him walking down from the 2nd floor to the 1st and it was just weird..was holding the rail with both hands and times and taking it one step at a time. :wtf:
i still had a great time tho. aside from a few pretty noticeable train wrecks - i thought the music was great. and the party was awesome too. i was expecting the drinks at a place like that to be expensive but 6 dollar beers were goood to me.
every time i went to the bathroom ppl were going in 2 and 3 at a time. i was like......everybody knows what ur doing :haha:
i feel like there was a lot of interest in this party - but i think it was wrong of verboten/flawless/whoever to raise the rsvp price from 20 to 25 even tho email confirmations all said $20 and on here it was noted that it'd be $20. i inquired what the deal was with the girl at the door and felt kind of insulted when she smugly replied "it was a miscommunication". bitch, i'm not stupid. i know you were just milking it for all it's worth but that's not how to treat your fan base. --i spoke with a few people over the course of the night about those things and everybody was saying the same thing - they loved the party but thought the organization etc was poor.
at one point my friends really wanted a cig so we were waiting to get on the roof...they were letting ppl up 1 for 1, totally understandable, and then the birthday girl or w/e comes down and she's like "everybody needs to get the off this floor nobody's coming on the roof for at least 15 minutes. i'm glad you all came to MY party but seriously everybody go back downstairs." we had waited 20 min at this point, had been cut off numerous times, and were next in line to go up. |

I saw Lee around 7 and at first I couldn't determine if it was him or not because he looked so mangled.
Lines to smoke suck, but it was crowded as up on the rooftop around sunset. I just went back downstairs and went back up later when the line was shorter. Also, I didn't have much issue with the door with pre-sales, but I got there a little after 6. |

the birthday girl lol. did some heavy chic in grey have anything to do with that b/c she was marching around yelling at everyone that looked like they worked there "i need to speak to a manager! i demand a manager!" lmfao...its not Cheesecake Factory honey, relax...why the eff would you have a birthday party at this place and WHO the eff mixed the party w/ that crap? Horrible organization with the lines outside...douchebag bouncers. I'm not impressed with this place..I'll stick to Brooklyn. |

| At Blkmarket, I heard from one of the people involved with the party that they sold more presales for this event than they have for any event at Rivington or Love, so I knew better than to get there late. |

I was planning to go to this earlier in the week but I decided not to after plans fell through. After reading the stuff that you guys said, I'm glad I didn't go. It sounds like the typical bull you would want to avoid at this kind of event: unnecessary lines, promoter lying about things, douche-y staff going on power trips, etc.
The tickets online cost $28 (steep). If you paid that, and then showed up to find out that the promoter let Lee Foss get hammered so he couldn't perform up to his ability as a headliner...so unprofessional. |

He's not an infant, they're not babysitting him.
Do you have any idea how many headlining DJs are playing NYC venues on all kinds of drugs (or alcohol) that they themselves have brought or bought? They're not freshmen F.I.T. students from Kansas on their first week living in New York, these guys should know their limits and boundaries to be able to practice their craft effectively. No promoter spoon-feeds a pill, line of coke or a whiskey shot to the DJ, like it's something fun for them to do and see the results. You'd be very naive to believe that it's not a big part of the scene that [insert touring DJ who makes a lot of money per booking] isn't shopping around for drugs during his stay in New York, or anywhere for that matter. |

When did promoters become babysitters?
EDIT: Nice timing Eco...;) |

All I'm saying is that if your headlining act shows up and the guy clearly isn't there...to not give a and let him roam around aimlessly before his set and then he goes behind the decks and bombs...you have to show some level of control to maintain the quality of the event. By letting him play while he was messed up, it makes him look bad and the promoter look bad for letting it happen. And it sounds like the set sucked from the fans...so who benefited from doing nothing? Nobody. |

^^ya very true.
for what it's worth, i still had a good time. out in LA, i'd generally have to attend events like this 1) solo or 2) with a girl who was interested in me. back here in ny...i can get a great group of friends to go. we all had a good time. so much about the night was a hassle - but the venue was really sweet and whatever mr. jones was doing when he had control was great. i'll probably be back for soul clap...unless it's another birthday party. lol |
