Haha, when he's like "I want everybody to get down, yeah you too", he was referring to me since I was in the front and still standing up :P

I didn't have much time after day 1 so here's my review

12:00PM I got in to Randalls Island pretty quickly and immediately went to Sunday School Grove to see Joris Voorn. I saw him for about 30 minutes and really really enjoyed his set. I would have loved to see more of his set but I made a promise I would check out Gareth Emery as well (since I haven't seen them both before)

12:30PM Met up with TAs and checked out Gareth Emery at Hilltop Arena. I quite liked his set. Him playing Pryda-Niton was probably the highlight of his set for me. I recorded the whole thing and hoping to put it up somewhere soon. Also really enjoyed hearing Dustin Zahn Stranger to Stability (Len Fake Podium remix) and he made a nice comeback from it when sound got cut off. Overall, a very nice set and I was quite impressed.

3:00PM I stayed at Hilltop Arena for a little more for Schulz's set and decided to catch some other acts because I already seen him twice. I saw a bit of Joachim Garraud's set and he really had the crowd going. His music is not my cup of tea but his show was pretty good with the masks ;-) Spend rest of the time checking out Erol Alkan (who was quite good) and Claude VonStroke. He had a pretty funky minimal set and enjoyed that as well

4:40PM I heard quite good things about Reboot's sets and I was at Sunday School Grove a bit more. I quite enjoyed his set. The crowd was really into it but decided to walk around a litte more because it was ridiculously dusty there. I went to the Main Stage or first time to check out Dirty South and came back to Sunday School Grove to see Paco Osuna. That was another highlight of the day for me. His set was really hard and groovy which I quite enjoyed.

7:00PM Some of the girls I was with wanted to see Major Lazer and I had no idea who they were until I got there. I couldn't bare myself to be there more than 10 minutes because that was probably the worst thing I heard at EZoo. I decided to rest up for rest of the night and checked out a bit of Steve Bug's set which I wasn't much into. Spend the rest of the time resting up for Richie Hawtin

8:45PM It was well worth the wait! I saw Richie Hawtin last year and had a great time but this year he definitely had a much better set! He was a little slow in the beginning like others said but It picked up quite great and I couldn't stop moving for rest of the night. I was quite disappointed most of the tents were closing early so they would force us to see Chemical Brothers but a great thing happened. Richie Hawtin decided to extend his set until 11PM and that quite made my night. Otherwise, I was planning on leaving pretty early

I woke up feeling like death because my friends talked my into my first 4loko experience friday night, followed by beers beers beers.

UGH woke up feeling like death.

Anyway, Day 1 was alright.
-Really got into Joris' set
-Chuckie was pretty good
-Pete Tong played kinda safe
-Flying Lotus was best of the day IMO. Great variety, good technical skills and really had the crowd going. Was pretty awesome when he played:

my friends and i are big steve brule fans :stongue:

left after flylo, cause i was dead. really wanted to catch richie, but ah well.

Final thoughts: Everyone I saw played it really safe wtf. Was expecting some hot , but ehh. Day 2 post comin UP.

not sure why people keep booking atb - oh wait yea i do - DAMN YOU DJMAG! Hate when promoters book him. It takes up a trance spot that could have went towards a REAL trance dj.

I had a phenomenal time at Day 1. Best sets of the day, IMO, were Markus, Gareth, Paco, Reboot, Kaskade & Axwell..in that order. ;)

Markus & Gareth both had another gig after their EZ sets---therefor the early EZ set times. At least they were there.

I had won the vip upgrade from Made's twitter contest. The bathrooms were way better than the regular port-a-potty's. I don't know that it's $185 worth though. The beer was $1 more than the GA were...granted it was budlight but still...$9 for a 12oz bottle. I also had one glass of sangria which was $10. I was afraid to know how much a mixed drink would be. I also think that the VIP should be available in every tent/area. That MIGHT make it worth the price.

Spent 11 hrs at Zoo day 1, so I skipped out on the afterparties.

Why would a bottle bud light cost more than a glass of Blue Moon? It just doesn't make sense

I agree about the other tents. I might do VIP if they offered their services in every tent because i barely went to Main Stage myself this EZOO.

I don't know how much the blue moon was, but coors was $8 and only offered in GA, budlight & budweiser were $9 and only offerend in VIP

it's because they figure if you have the money to shell out for vip you won't mind spending an extra buck per beer. and maybe there's less of a wait for vip beer as well?
