You already pay that much for VIP, don't see why you should be charged more for the same beer.
DJ Eco
Glenn Morrison - fairly well, couldn't do much with a smaller crowd than the other DJs and at that time slot. what he played, my friends an i generally liked, stayed techy which i'm pretty happy about.

Gareth Emery - a very good set which started a bit slow but definitely picked up, i would love to see him play a few hours of a set, could definitely be interesting.

Markus Schulz - loved his set as always; i don't know how he was not on main stage again this year.

Boris - caught the tail end of his set, he lost me a bit after a couple songs, but i think i was just anxious to see some of the other guys, and needed more trance. not sure why he was main stage.

ATB - he was atrocious and sounded like it was his first day spinning on CDJs. i generally don't critique DJs on trainwrecks or spotty mixing here and there, but not one mix was well-done, i always kinda made a painful face at the point he was making his "transitions". don't know how he was on main stage, or booked in the first place. i don't remember him being this bad last year.

Dirty South - caught some of his set, not too bad, but just the usual generic nuveaux house bull that 50% of the rest of the lineup were playing (Tong, Funkagenda, Kaskade, Avicii, and Chris Lake, for starters); can't really get into it.

Major Lazer - 5 thumbs down, people were running from main stage like it was the quarantine of the plague. their more suitable for bottles and models clubs, or z100's jingleball than electric zoo; give me break.

Steve Bug - regained my confidence in saturday's lineup. my girlfriend and i absolutely loved his set and would definitely see him again, and soon.

Richie Hawtin - awesome set, blew my mind out, and really enjoyed it; perfect set to close out a satisfactory day of music.

Chemical Brothers - caught a good hour of their set and was blown away. i'd never seen them live before and they rocked my world. i think the real music lovers could stand there and really appreciate the direction their songs were all taking (very slow and gradual), without it having fart basses or gimmicky vocals about Miami, Detroit, or "C'mon". i sat on the side hill listening with my jaw wide open, great stuff!!
Neonbeats
According to this article there was an estimated 30k on Day 1. No idea where they got that number but I'm guessing it's somewhat accurate, sounds about right. Sunday might of had closer to 35k

I really think that they picked the main stage on say 1 out of a hat... except for the chemical brothers i don't think any of the other performers deserved to be on the main stage... even though afrojack dissed trance i still liked what he was playing and it just was different than everyone elses and the energy from the crowd was redic. him and chuckie were both like that... Gareth emery is awesome.. I saw a flyer that hes playing at cielo in october i cant wait for that... Overall i had an awesome time at the zoo i just think they need to put the same types of djs tg and not basically randomly place them in random places... and next time im bringing a mask. I have asthma and i had to leave around 10pm i told ryan that i was gonna die if we didnt leave lol

Day 1 was sikkkkkk!!

Missed Glenn Morrison :( :( boooo I REALLY wish he played later because brunch with friends interrupted his set :( :(

Gareth Emery:    :eyes: :eyes: :eyes: I adore him. Saw him at Dance Valley and he knocked my effin socks off. Same here: he had the crowd goin absolutely NUTS.....craziest crowd I saw of the entire event. :eyes: Bangerssss!! I thought people would start flying through the roof at one point. Trance Set of the event!

Markus: What can I say: the man rarely dissapoints. Im glad Wai used to convince me to go to all of his sets because he has grown on me so much! He is a friendly guy as well :) I love that he doesnt play too fluffy in his sets, and thats what keeps me coming back for more :) :) Really, really loving him the last couple years....

Paco Osuna:    :eyes: :eyes:

Axwell: I almost wish I didnt listen to so many SHM live sets, because they are all the same, but rocking nonetheless.

Chemical Brothers: Liked the main stage...cool graphics....they have a sound that shot me back into the 1990's at times.....pretty cool :) only saw about 30 minutes before sprinting to avoid the bus lines!

I know Im late in this thread but I had a great time on Saturday. I tried to find who the TA meet up people were at the back of the hilltop stage - lol but kept on picking the wrong people and they will look at me like IM crazy- I gave up and went to go see CVS instead.

Quick review-

The dust really did suck- I mean like seriously- I still partied hard in the Sunday School Tent but went home and was shocked at how caked up my face was with the dirt and grime. It was crazy that some people wore welder goggles, bandanas and hats in preparation for how bad it gets- Im surprised no one on this forum mentioned that prior- though Im not sure it would have made much of a difference. Seriously though cant MADE invest in some freaking dancefloors to put on the ground or something that aint even healthy after 8 + hours. Anyway -it was pretty crazy when you think of it afterwards.

I thought Paco, Reboot and Richie Killed it- I always liked Joris but his set sounded very similar to one I heard on dancetripping especially when he played that Michael Jackson song. I thought Paul K- killed it too but sucked that he seemed stressed out due to technical difficulties he had to be his own AV guy it seemed.

Overall a great day and wished I couldve gone the next day as well.

so....day 1....

i'm writing this after reading everyone's reviews and I feel i'm probably the oddball here...buttttt.....

the first three sets on hilltop arena all of them had problems w/ the equipment. not so much they didn't know how to DJ it was that things just randomly stopped...you could see it on glenn and garth's faces and they were like ,"wtf" just happened? i loved garth's set. awesome. markus, to be honest, i felt like the first 20 minutes he was just looking at the equipment, and not the audience. playing w/ bass levels. it was boring. meh.

i had a great time at ATB. i stayed for the whole set, followed by Dirty South. i know ATB's set was really random and the whole rage against the machine thing was definitely off guard, but i dunno; i enjoyed it. it was only 5-6 minutes and then he went back to electronica stuff again. so yeah.

had a gyro after that and made my way to kaskade. i really like kaskade a lot; but his set was kinda....meh. lots of things i'd already heard before and i didn't really like his new album. it was a fun set, but nothing that blew me away like last year. maybe cause of the tent? i dunno.

after that benny was hot on the main stage. i wish i had been to his set for the whole thing.

chemical brothers were BOORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRING. boring graphics and boring music. i left at 10pm. exhausted, coughing up dirt and probably pot too.

so i know it's an outdoor music festival (electronic at that); but there were a lot of drugs. 10 minutes into glenn morrison's set i smelled pot. much much more pot than last year. i personally don't do the stuff, and don't mind others doing it, it was just really , REALLY noticable.

the TA meetup was fun and cool to see some new folks and some old ones. i only get to NYC once a year, and saturday was a great time.

I endured so much commuting and waiting to get into EZ. It took 4 hours to get there and then I got stuck in the will call abyss and the huge mass of humanity at the front gate.

Got in at 3:30 and couldn't find the TA meetup at the Hilltop tent :( I wanted to find Will (tubularbills) and Sam (kadomony), but I couldn't find them. It wasn't like last year where it was easy to run into people.

I spent most of my time at Sunday School and had a good time. But I never can get into CvS, no matter how many times I try. The dust was crazy and it reminded me of how it is in Las Vegas. The weather was fantastic and loved the music, especially Paco Osuna. That was a highlight for me.

I skipped out early because I wanted to avoid the crowds on the ferry. Overall, a nice day, but it wasn't worth the hassle and the $$$.
