He is simply mediocre. When you have someone who bashes so much the current scene you would expect him to bring something new/change. Nothing, again and again the same boring sound.
Angel & Demons was a joke. Is really this to what trance should aspire?

ROFL

Have you listened to Johns 2001/2010 essential mix?

And the bit of psy added in makes the tracks more interesting and dynamic, and at times much deeper. Its what makes John stand out from the pack. I would hardly say his sound is dull and boring. He uses interesting bass lines, creative percussion, and NOT EVERY ING TRACK HE CREATES IS AN ANTHEM (THANK GOD)

You just hate psy because its not as accessible and you cannot understand it (a good thing, keep all the sheep out), unlike unicorn magic rainbow trance which is a gigantic plur furry fest.

I'd like you to name one trance DJ that is bringing the tunes more than J00F. Give it your best shot.

And ROFL at the suggestion that all J00F plays is psy, he was one of the most diverse range of tracks that makes the vast majority of other dj's seem boring after listening to him

J00f is a extremely good DJ but he is indeed getting praised way too much. His productions were never good for my ears and I dont think he has that many ideas to incorporate into a track hence the collaborations. His sets are definitely good though.#

EDIT: Saw the post above, I disagree that J00F is very diverse. He is playing more or less 4-5 genres in total and most of them blend together nicely anyway. I've seen and listened to far more diverse DJs out there.

That is diverse for a trance DJ. All the other trance dj's seem to be playing 1-2 styles.

the only style that 99% of trance djs play is the beatport trance top 20. why use their imaginations when beatport can tell them what to play?

Exactly. Hell, even Activa said it in his interview, he does not have time to sift through the thousands of tracks labels are putting out to find a couple gems, and instead uses beatport top 100.

J00F is diverse for a trance DJ, and I don't think he should be judged based on not playing style X, breaks, or any other genre of EDM because he is a damn fine DJ who is not boxed into a single style.

True but he is still limiting himself. I would like to see him playing some goa like E-Mantra or Filteria, or possibly some really twisty darker psy (from what I listened and saw, he hadn't played stuff like that so far). There are a lot other different possibilities that won't make him sound too awkward like if he plays breaks or some very weird stuff. My idea is that he is getting predictable too.

It's hard for a DJ like J00F to switch his style so drastically. I'm sure a lot of people would be disappointed if they went to see him bang some trance and he played goa or something that wasn't his usual banging style. I see what you're saying, and he could try that, but he doesn't try to pass himself off as a psytrance DJ these days, so I can't see him doing that.

Well, this is the bad part in most cases - how you pass yourself in front of the audience. The problem of getting too big is exactly this. You just can't get away from the stereotype the public has for you. You are J00F, you have to play prog trance/house.
