What the is even going on in this thread? You people need to quit generalizing. Full-on psytrance isn't anywhere near boring if you find the right tracks, the exact same way every single genre under the sun works. There are a lot of bad tracks, and quite a few good tracks.

@trancedanne, can't it be argued that trance is just as dead as psytrance? If all you listen to in psy is the bassline, you're completely ing missing the point.

Infact, if for you a track expires with its bassline than there is something wrong with you, not with the track.

U-Recken is one of the best, if not the best, psy trance producer nowadays. His tracks are full of dynamics and variations. Is a trip you never know how it starts and how it ends. I can't say the same for regular trance with the pre-fixed structure on which you simply replace the melody and there you have a "new ch00n" as they call it.

Funny because you describe todays trance as "farty" and why is that?
Vibrasphere, Whirloop and Solar Fields (especielly Earthshine) are awesome producers, but then agian its not full on psy. They made something good with the genre instead of following the same formula over & over again.

Actually, they just followed the direction of progressive trance and added some psy influence. Just a small tweak to an already existing formula. If you listen to most progressive psytrance these days, you will be more bored than you would be if you listened to full-on. I don't understand how you're not seeing the pattern here yet.

Actually i found prog psy abit boring except for those i mentioned, but at least they try something new with this genre. And funny you mention progressive trance with psy influences (which i did earlier in this thread), thats pretty much why their music works so well.

Earthshine is a good track, no doubt about it, but then?

There are actually some producers, that are not famous as Magnus, who are making good trance today, but they receive very little support unfortunately.

For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2bS3uMw2Xw

This track has deepness, drive, trance...but no one seems to care...and then you got people complaining...

MOST of it is wack. There is some that is really good, but it's for you to decide. Here's my favorite full-on set:
