edit: it's Gadi, I think that's the worst for putting together those kind of terrible, half-assed sounding "mixes". It's insulting when people don't try. And if it's supposed to be ironic, that's ing whack. |
I wasn't there in person so I can't corroborate this, but Gadi played at an afters here last year that was widely regarded as the "worst set they'd ever heard" by a lot of people there. |

What a joke, on both accounts. I love how Gadi and Soul Clap got all pissy that RA didn't bow down to their "cult status" and actually gave an honest criticism. I also love how this crew justifies their motives with utterly transparent lies. |
dude, the actual thread is vomit-inducing. soooo much ing cock-sucking because gadi and jamie posted itt. "best release of the year," "nonsense review," and the ubiquitous "will rock the dancefloors, that's what it's all about!!!"
i'm glad a journalist from a semi-respected resource finally had the balls to express what a lot of us have been noticing lately in regards to releases such as these. |

I mean really, if people are willing to accept that as "fresh" and "unique", I might as well start dj'ing. I have taste in music too! |

And probably better taste at that.
My comments to technocolour in the other thread were a bit abrasive, but SC/W+L/etc are the perfect example of the comical arrogance displayed by too many people in this scene simply because they throw parties or put out some records that are popular at the time. |

Lol, my friend's Facebook status today is totally relevant to this thread. It reads "xxxxxx xxxxxxxxx thinks people should not believe their own hype...that's when you become a GIANT DOUCHE!"

it was a bit reactionary, but it's easy to automatically assume someone who you've never seen posting in c0r is being a douche- totally understandable. this drives me nuts about a lot of people out there though, even including a small handful of people on TA. greg had a big ing problem with pulling that when he was actively posting (thank god the emphasis is "was").
don't get me wrong, i myself am or at least feel a bit arrogant about my own artistry even without any sort of notoriety; but i'm not throwing it in people's faces left and right. |

If it were just a "regular guy" in that video, EVERYone would be flaming his retarded, annoying ass. But nooOOOOoo, it's SETH TROXLER and we all must suck his cock! Therefore, it's clever, crazy, and hilarious! He's not acting like a douche in the least! He has vision, and purpose! |
Well, I have no idea what schemata you had coming into watching this video, but I honestly have no idea what sets Seth Troxler apart from some other guy to begin with. I had no idea who he was when I watched the video and I thought it was hilarious. Whether it was intentional, contrived, or he's just flat out crazy, it was hilarious to me. I don't care if to him it's a vision, because to me it's like watching It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. And I'd probably suck his too. |

Soul Clap, W+L. I've heard them put out mixes that sound like they just threw all their tunes into a jukebox and hit shuffle on more than one occasion. Soul Clap's recent RA podcast, for example.

have you heard the Wolf+Lamb XLR8R podcast? the mixing is so gash that my friend and i came up with a theory that it MUST be a joke.
then again, Gadi played one of the best sets i've ever heard at the Marcy Hotel back in June. no one believes me, but he was absolutely on fire that night.
i love the whole Wolf+Lamb crew... more for the vibe of their parties than anything. but i honestly think that Slow Hands, Greg Paulus/No Regular Play, Nicolas Jaar, and Zev are the stand-out talents of the label.
edit // forgot Nico! |

hey myra! bored, i take it? my head a'splode.
when we saw soul clap last year they were actually pretty solid, they played the penthouse at vision. this of course was before they started releasing all of the subpar edits and whatnot though. |
