hey myra! bored, i take it? my head a'splode.

when we saw soul clap last year they were actually pretty solid, they played the penthouse at vision. this of course was before they started releasing all of the subpar edits and whatnot though.

i've got the day off and it's too early to start drinking scotch.

Soul Clap, imo, gets a lot of unnecessary credit/criticism based on the fact that they are just a couple of small-town boys who blew up pretty quickly by marketing themselves the right way. most people i meet either seem to love them or hate them. it's funny to me how they are seen as the leaders of some "disco edit" revolution, when guys like Greg Wilson and Harvey have been doing it since before Charlie and Eli were born... but the truth is they did play a large part in that sound becoming popular in the techno-hipster-party-circles of modern day. as producers i don't think they're all that special, but i think they are good DJs.

maybe i'm biased, considering i never got onto the "minimal" bandwagon of 2 years ago and i have always gravitated towards the funky/disco/gay house... so i was quite elated when all the Wolf+Lamb guys started pushing that sound, pitched down and drenched in wobbly K butter. delicious.

by far my favorite thing Soul Clap has ever done - http://www.soulclap.us/mixes/liveatmarquis.mp3

"In April 2008 we were hired to DJ two events for a major corporation's top sales people on a retreat in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The first event was a VIP welcome dinner, which took place poolside at the picturesque Marquis Los Cabos Resort. For this event the mission was to create a classy lounge soundtrack that also had energy and appeal for a more conservative crowd. Here's what we turned out."

but i honestly think that Slow Hands, Greg Paulus/No Regular Play, Nicolas Jaar, and Zev are the stand-out talents of the label.

Yep. No dispute about that at all.
