seriously good advice..

and are you getting a partial denture or are you just going to be missing a load of teeth?

Metamucil seemed to work fine for me.

I can't remember what they gave me, but they crushed up a couple of blue pills and I was out cold for the entire surgery. It was wonderful :)

Metamucil is disgusting though.

I was conscious during all of it, they only numbed my mouth. Was rad feeling all the tugging and the drilling.

I had eight teeth taken out in two operations as a kid, but I guess it's very different because I don't remember any painkillers or swelling. I do remember being high as a ing kite off the nitrous oxide afterwards, though.

In case the wondering about why 11 teeth: 4 are impacted wisdoms & the other 7 are decayed. 4 of those other 7 are the teeth right next to each wisdom tooth (in the back, where one usually chews their food at). I never had good enough medical coverage that adequately covered dental care & I had to pay out of pocket to find out the information I found out recently about my teeth. Back in May & again in July, I had an infection & was on an antibiotic for 14 days. The dentist that gave me the antibiotic informed me of an impacted wisdom tooth but did not do a comprehensive exam. So I went to a private dentist (that doesn't take my coverage), paid for the exam, and got the full report.

I guess that's what not doing anything beyond the basics dental-wise for over 20 years does...

I'm just being a troll. :p I too have never had decent insurance and had to deal with below-basic dental care, hence why I had a root canal at 14, dealing with two impacted wisdom teeth (under the jaw bone) and a crack in one of my molars. Thank god I've been fortunate enough to not have any cavities since the root canal and brush the cracked tooth often. It was also another reason I never got braces and have the gap between my two front teeth.

From one person who suffers constant mouth/jaw pains, I feel for you. I find taking 2-3 extra strength tylenol often helps when I don't/can't have medicine on hand.

I had a number of teeth pulled at the same time (wisdom). It usually better to not have them done all at once, mainly because it could be difficult to eat a few days later. depends where they are located. its usually best to follow what the doctor recommends. as far as pain, you won't feel pain during the extraction. If you take your pills on time you will be ok. problem happens if you need to take them every 4 hrs and go to bed in the middle of the night you will wake to the most god awful pain and you will have trouble swallowing. Then you'll counting every second until the pills kick in.

No insurance? Probably about 2k. I'm not sure if it's different everywhere you go, but I saw an itemized bill and the price was like $900+ with most of it going towards the actual extraction and time it took. The drugs didn't even cost that much.
