I wonder what the op's oral operation will cost in the us? :wtf: |
It would cost 4415 USD (3396.29 € as of now) if I went with a private surgeon (roughly 300 $/tooth + costs for general anaesthesia & other stuff). I will be going with a surgeon with one of our universities that is covered by my insurance so I'm not worried much about the financial aspect of the surgery.
Again, it's not the surgery itself I'm concerned with but the hours/days(/weeks?) after it.
If I have the option to choose to get it all done on one day or go separate times, what is the best choice (I'll be seeing a new surgeon soon from the university which he might give me an option)? |

No insurance? Probably about 2k. I'm not sure if it's different everywhere you go, but I saw an itemized bill and the price was like $900+ with most of it going towards the actual extraction and time it took. The drugs didn't even cost that much. |
I went to a Comfort Dental and it cost $600 to have all 4 extracted. I think that's a pretty comparable price to actual specialists, they just did not charge an outrageous premium for putting me under (since... they didn't). It would seem to me they'd charge a lot more when dealing with the anesthetic risks against the cost of their own insurance, but that's just speculation. I got a Vicky script and everything, no complications. |

I too opted for Novocaine so I could hear the crunching and to save $$$ |

What's up with all the dental work? I've never had to get anything worse than the usual stuff during regular cleanings. Mine aren't perfect, but still never had a cavity or anything. |

In my case my wisdom teeth were impacted and the orthodontist wanted some others removed to make room to straighten my teeth. |

Get them all done at once so your recovery time is shorter. Imagine doing half once and half later, you're basically going to have a swollen mouth for over a month. Not worth it.

Yeah I thought they charged per tooth, but I wasn't sure. Dental insurance ftw, thank god I'm fully employed. |

Yeah same, the one impacted wisdom tooth was the only issue I had. It was there, impacted, for a long time without any issues. I woke up one day and bang, totally infected and had to get it removed. |

I got the 14 teeth in question removed in mid-November & had not a single problem recovering. I followed the instructions I was given (not even a full page) & felt back to normal by the 5th day post surgery.
Of course now I will need to see about getting implants or something, as now I have several gaps in my mouth from having so many teeth (including a few front ones - mouth now looks UGLY) extracted. |
