Now now Mikey, don't call bull just yet. The battery in the picture is a 9V battery, while the big battery in the video you posted is a 6V battery.

same thing, only some brands have small batteries inside

This could well be a possibility.

I know Dan is aware of this phenomenon, but I should point out that we're often just superstitious pigeons. The lift where I live is a bit dysfunctional, and it randomly freezes after it closes it doors and doesn't move for 10 seconds or so. What did I do when it first happened? I waited and, sure enough, after 10 seconds, the lift did what it was supposed to do. So, whenever it happened again, I was fully aware of the fact that nothing I did could make that bloody metallic box go up or down. However, whenever there was someone else with me on the lift, and it froze, my companion would often do bizarre things claiming it would help the lift go back to normal.

I witnessed all sorts of button pressing, door slamming, passionate praying (yes, and God apparently helped the elevator move!), and reckless hopping in that small confined space. My favourite was a crippled girl who had just one leg so she would press her back against the wall and "jump".

I can't tell how much I learnt about human behaviour thanks to that glitch.

i haven't been able to get it to work...

You're joking right?

That was disproved years ago - it only ever worked with some ancient form of ultrasonic key fob from japanese cars on analog phone networks. Basically it would have worked for less than 1% of cars at the time and only if you had a analog phone, which was also unlikely as they were the size of a small caravan in the late 80's.

Even then it was a fukcing miracle if you got it to work.

Also, I dont understand the banana thing. It's basically saying, "instead of opening it by the stem, open it by the stem!"

Most of the stuff I have to youtube it to understand.

Tomorrow morning I'm going to have to try it. Btw, I once was into breaking the banana in half. Works best if the banana isn't too ripe.

"My whole adult life, I never knew the right way to open a banana." I love it.

It actually works. I do it all the time.

Also,

This is the best thread that I have seen in the COR, possibly ever.

i can attest that the free wi-fi thing, #5 on the free list, doesn't work. i'm at a public place right at this moment with pre-pay wi-fi service and it didn't work, at least here- i tried a bunch of different variations of "?.jpg" as well.

I'm aware my findings could be a Type I error

That's exactly how I open bananas... I always imagined that doing it from the stem was so counter-intuitive that no one would ever do that naturally :p

We need more experiments... but I'm astonished nonetheless :p
