Why are people avoiding the Producer Promotion forum? (pg. 2)

I post reviews on people's tracks over there weekly.

Bitches.

Supreme level is a bit much, since it takes hundreds of posts to get there. Maybe fifty or a hundred posts or something?

also one should define "release" i mean is everything dumped on soundcloud with CC license also a "release"

As I understand the forum, it is not just for those who have a release with a label. And I see no problem at all with that.

If I ever avoid it it's just because nobody ever ing listens to my music. At least I know the people in this forum and the kind of feedback I could get.

Put the champagne down, Yoda.

Back OT, I don't post there because what little time I do have to waste on the tinterwebnetz is spent in the production forum, the the DJ Booth, then the local forum (in that order).

As other people have said, it's mostly because in here you get specific advice to specific questions from people who you trust, and most of it is on WIP's.

I should really go to the PP forum, maybe I'll find some music that I like but honestly it comes down to time, and I don't feel like I'm going to learn anything or make my brain think half as much as contributing here.

i dont go there for two reasons:
1. i havent made any tracks to promote in years.
2. i dont listen to singles, only complete albums or dj mixes.

To be honest, I'm finding it hard to find time to post anywhere on TA at the moment.

But when I post one of my tunes in the promotion forum, I do spend more time in it and I make the time to provide other producers with feedback, considering they make the time to comment on my tracks.

I post as much as I can on there but recently with it being summer and all(nice weather, beer,BBQ etc etc), I really havent had much time to do my own stuff as well as listen and comment.I will start though as the nights draw in and it becomes cold.:D

only ever come in here, if I wanted feedback, help or advice on a track, this would be the place id post

I haven't necessarily been avoiding it. I've just been busy. There's a few people who have posted in there recently who I've been meaning to check out (Keysora, MSZ, et al).

I always put up new stuff in there, as well, but I try never to put up WIPs. If they are WIP's, it's usually after the fact, when someone's pointed out some weaknesses I hadn't heard.

When I do put up new stuff, I also try and critique prolifically. Sometimes I just want to hear other peoples stuff and, as I've said in other posts, it helps to get out of ruts when I'm in the middle of a project.

We might try having a WIP exclusive sub-forum to cut down on clutter amidst the full releases. Personally, I think people tend to be far too kind in the MPP forum and will tolerate both a lot of bad material and poor behavior which kind of sanctions more of the same. I know I can be a PITA, in there, but really it's in reaction to some of the crap that makes it a non-productive forum.

Personally, I think Omega_Blue's doing the best job he can with it. Perhaps he could use some help, pointers, suggestions, et al, but he doesn't seem like the type of person to take offense at that sort of thing. Mr. BJJ as a second mod? Sure. I like that idea, too, but I definitely don't want regime change.

Back in the day, it used to be the other way around. Producers forum was the busier of the 2 production forums and there was a good little community in there.

These days it seems like there are too many people who create accounts solely to promote their new material and nothing else. This is nothing new of course, but now they seem to be in the majority. It's hard to post a song there any more without it being swamped out to page 2 within a day.
