Funky house. Am I on the right track?

This is for a remix competition I was bamboozled into entering. Well, a bloke asked and I said yes

When I heard the original I just thought Freemasons.

The piano and the reverbed lead after the break are the only parts from the original, and I wanted to create something, well, funky!

Really not my usual style so feedback welcome!

The round-wound pluck sounds just slightly atypical, in terms of its volume relative to the thumbed bass, next to it, and you may want to look at timing discrepancy (at the microscopic level) on the wave-form for both basses - unless you actually played that bass-line, in which case my comment on the volume still stands.

The synth lead's a little loud.

Really, however, all critique aside, it's coming along quite nicely. Definitely had me doing the disco-Stu dance.

Good call EZ

I have to go over the bassline with a fine toothcomb tbh, it was played in via Kontakt and is actually just one patch, the plucky part of it was done with velocity and note position.

I was thinking of separating out the punping fingered part from the twangs as well, so I have to agree :)

Got loads of pesky violin slides to do as well, only got as far as two bars as of yet :p

Cheers for teh listen

An update, just a bit longer with a bit 'o' tweakage and some added shizzle.

And trumpets!

I predict epic things for this track. I would consider layering the bass-line but that's the only critique I'm gonna give it. Trumpets are a nice touch.

Keep at it, man!

My presonus Firebox died today. Not sure how I'm going to survive.

So yeah, it's going to be quite the task giving feedback when I can't hear anything

Damn this
