MM actually felt comfortable. There was room everywhere. parking was not an issue at all and drinks were freakin' strong! There wasn't that ugly underage feeling. You can tell that Go Ventures went the extra mile to make sure things ran smoothly. And it was very appreciated.
They were FREAKIN' STRICT with ID's. If you didn't have a California ID, but you had a passport or something else, they sent you to a second line where an ABC Inspector, YES, ABC aka California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control officer would ask you a bunch of questions and verify the authenticity of your ID. If they caught you lying or with a fake ID, the ABC officer would arrest you on the spot. I saw a lot of people get arrested there. They asked my girl a lot of questions and they ran her passport through the computer to make sure it was legit. It felt like we were at an immigration check point. On the upside, once the ABC officer said her passport was legit, they didn't ask her for a ticket to get in! lol
Unlike before, security was on extra alert. I saw them kick people out for dropping and I also saw the cops arrest people. Cops were everywhere. One big difference, infront of the main entrance, they used big storage containers as fences, to avoid people rushing them. lol I guess they learned their lesson.
Music selection wasn't the best I ever heard at a massive, but it was good. I swear if I hear ONE or KNAS one more time, I'm gonna jump off a bridge. I HEARD THEM AT LEAST 5 TIMES!!!! WTF???? The sad part was I heard them on every stage except the Carl Cox & Friends one. I thought the whole point of having multiple stages was to have different styles of music? lol
I was confused, I thought the John Digweed stage was supposed to be the main one? Instead, the Carl Cox and friends was where everyone was at. IMO, that's the one that had the best music too.
JOHN DIGWEED was good, he played harder than usual, but there was something about it that I wasn't feeling. I liked the second half better.
CARL COX... What I heard from Carl, was freakin' good!!! Man, his closing song was so freakin' sick!!!! So acidy, so hard, just freakin' out of this world!!! I'll post the video of it later. He had the best set of the night IMO.
GARETH EMERY... Hmm, this was my first time seeing him. Honestly, he's good but I think Trance if officially DEAD... There wasn't many people there when he was playing. He made me feel like I was at the old Spundae at Circus. He dropped Silence & As The Rush Comes.
AXWELL... I was expecting a lot from him since SHM seem to be the flavor of the week right now. Honestly, he's good, but nothing too exciting. Very mainstream, and obviously he played nothing but SHM tracks. One thing I didn't like about him was the he had a lot of breakdowns on his set. It felt like a roller coaster.
ARMAND VAN HELDEN... He's one of the DJ's responsible for getting me into house music back in the early 90's. He was good. My girlfriend like him the best from everyone we heard. He dropped a lot of his hits like California Gurls, Barbra Streissand, and others. He was very commercial too.
PETE TONG... Blah, he kinda bored me so we left his stage right away.
LE CASTLE VANIA... He was actually pretty fun! But he played the same as Axwell and Armand.
Z-TRIP... I didn't like him at all. He played hip hop & dubstep. He was killing our buzz, so we left his stage right away.
COSTUMES... hahaha, the most popular one had to be DEADMAU5! haha there was tons of them everywhere. Some were pretty creative, others pretty blah! That was followed closely by Mario & Luigi and off course tons of girls showing their asses!!! Hahaha The WTF I WASN'T EXPECTING THIS costume had to be Mickey Mouse! hahaha

How was the USC parking lot leaving MM? Did it take a long time to get onto the freeway?
I'm curious to see how the 18+ limit changed MM from last year. Those who went to MM last year and this year, plz tell me the main differences you noticed. |

I didn't go to MM last year but compared to TAO, parking was so much better. At TAO, it took me about 30 minutes to get out of the UCS parking lot (the one behind the Radisson) and about 1 hour to get on the freeway after leaving the lot :(. The freeway entrance is right there once you get out of the lot but it was such a cluster f because of people getting off the freeway at the same time to pick people up that it was a nightmare. Last night, I stayed until the end so I was a little worried about how long it would take to get out. I parked in the same UCS lot and there was no line of cars to get out of the lot. I just got in my car and went down a couple of levels and was out. Left the lot and hopped on the freeway entrance in a another minute. No traffic at all for me :)
After going to Nocturnal and MM with the new age limit, I think the 18+ really makes a difference. IMO it's less crowded and a lot less people sitting on the middle of the dance floor. |

the 18+ is the best thing that has happened to so. cal massives. sucks that it had to be at the expense of a poor girl. :(

Parking was a breeze. There was no need to park at USC. I got there at 9:30 and I parked at the Sports Arena lot for $20. Everywhere else was $40. When MM was over, there was literally only 1 car leaving through our exit. No line whatsoever. There was a very short line going into the freeway. Nothing out of this world.
IMO, 18+ made a HUGE difference. It's actually enjoyable now, not as many epuddles as before. The only thing is, if they doubt your ID, the cops will check it, and if it's fake, they'll arrest you on the spot. |
