No but you did have to 'shake your boobs around' to a female security officer to make sure you weren't stashin.:)

As expected, he probably set it up for Lawler perfectly. Damn!

Hell ya... just like Lawler set it up for Moby.
Amazing night of music...

My quick review -

Got there around 7PM. I wanted to get there earlier to check out Doc Martin and Marcus Schossow but I had a busy day and was running late. I was surprised how the traffic was not bad and there was plenty of parking in the USC lot.

There was no line for VIP to get in. I walked right up to the ID scanner and then the search. That was quick! The line to get the 21+ wrist bands was about 6 people long and that went quick too.

Caught some of Judge Jules' set and saw Gareth Emery. I liked them both but most of the songs GE played I've been hearing a lot this year played by Markus and Armin so I wasn't totally into it but I still enjoyed it.

Digweed played a great set. I think I'm becoming more prog_seeker or something ;) It's probably just because I don't listen to his radio show as much as ASOT and GDJB so everything sounds new to me.

I was excited to see Carl Cox since I haven't seen him in years and his set was my favorite of the night. His sound fits a big room setup pretty well so hopefully promoters will book him again in the future.

Overall-

The Good:

After going to Nocturnal and MM, the 18+ age limit definitely seems to make a difference. Way less crowded than the previous MM I went to 2 years ago? I remember back then I couldn't easily get up the walkway from the bottom of the Sports Arena to the stage in the parking lot because it was so crowded. And once I got to the tent, you really could not get in there. This past weekend, there were a lot of people but there was plenty of room to walk around in the Tomb of Doom and Phantom Chamber areas.
I think it being less crowded on the dance floor, and less people sitting/lying on the floor, makes everyone a little happier since people aren't bumping into you all of the time and tripping over epuddles. Everyone seemed to be having a good time and in good spirits.

VIP drink lines were very short, no line or 1-2 person wait. Bathroom lines were short, 1-2 person wait.

Ran into Sweetcandy-girl and Gypsygirl. Yea, mini TA meetup :)

Leaving at the end was SO MUCH EASIER than TAO. No traffic at all. Probably due to less people and parents not coming in to pick up their kids when we are trying to leave? I was dreading that traffic but I didn't want to leave early since I only caught the end of Carl Cox's set. Luckily there was no problem getting out of the lot and onto the sweet freedom of the freeway.

The Bad:

The VIP areas were spacious but they had no good view of the stages. The VIP areas at EDC were great in comparison. If they could just extend the VIP area on one side of the stage outward it would have been better.

You couldn't get to the Phantom Chamber from VIP. When I saw the map I thought it was a great setup since the VIP area connected the Tomb of Doom and the Phantom Chamber. I though I could easily go from Digweed to Carl Cox but the security said that it was an exit only from the Phantom Chamber out so we had to walk all the away around to get in there. Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

The visuals didn't seem that impressive compared to EDC and Alice's House at Nocturnal. Although the flame things they had at the Tomb of Doom totally lit up the area and you could feel the heat from those things.

I finished uploading all of my vids from the night. Here's some more ->

I didn't see any, but they did make us take off our shoes, took everything out of our pockets, padded us down, and they also used a metal detector.

Got there around 8:30. The longest line was picking up my VIP tickets from Will Call. Security felt like the TSA having to take your shoes off but that was quick and simple.

Moby was a madman up there…we loved his set.
Digweed was proficient but we felt it lacked depth/creativity…not a lot of energy.
Axwell had a new opening set which was crazy good. We say him at Electric Zoo and he stayed with the SHM set from EDC there. So it was very refreshing to hear some new material from him.

The Good.
Short lines and well behaved partiers. Only a ran into a few who couldn’t handle their “liquor”.

The Bad.
VIP section was horrible…all side stage with bad sound and line of sight and the vodka…(if that is what you want to call it) YUCK! No taxi stands…what is up with that.

All in all it was a great night of good clean fun…:-)

if you dont have drugs, you wont have to worry about the dogs.

i'm surprised they dont do larger enforcement at la events like they do at the cow palace for popsicle every year.

I jumped into a cab easily and enjoyed Russian and Armenian house music all the way home.:gsmile:

But ya, VIP area was a shame.
