It's definitely more acceptable for an established regular to post their track here |
Why is that? |

I see posting tracks deliberately in the wrong section is basically asking the people here for a favor, because they trust the people here more than the people that go to the MP forum or because this section gets more attention or whatever the reason.
People are naturally inclined to give favors and ignore blatant cross posting to people they know actually contribute to the community. |

I mean it's not all that bad we have maybe 1 thread a week or so asking for feedback here and if it's a regular poster I think I mind a little less. That being said I still wish the promo forum was a little more busy with feedback.
There's alot of people posting their music just not alot of feedback being given to them.
End of the day this is the internet and I don't give a . |

That is also true, but that's the way the entire internet has shifted in the last few years. People only seem to give a about themselves and the amount of people wanting to be producers is just overwhelming. |

As we all know, the problem with the Promo forum, as with most promo forums, is that people tend to be more "safe" with their comments, because it's primarily dominated by people who also post songs regularly and no one wants overly negative feedback as retribution. In contrast, there are many people on the Production forum who rarely/never post songs in the Promo forum (in my observations), so you're more likely to get honest feedback here because they have no fear of retribution. Of course, people also tend to get unwarranted insults over here a lot. That's the part that annoys me. If you don't have the balls to have your own work scrutinized, then STFU with the condescending remarks. And, even if you do, you can be brutally honest and provide someone with direct criticism and pointers without resorting to personal attacks or telling the poster that his song sucks. It's not helpful to anyone, makes you look like a douche with no self-esteem, and destroys your credibility.

Good point. Even though the sudden onslaught of songs posted in this forum (there were 4 at the top half of the front page when I logged in last night!) annoy me somewhat, I just tend to ignore them, or read them and not reply if I'm not interested. |

| perhaps we should be encouraging more people that browse the production-studio forum to use the music promo thread, identifying new-commers seeking WIP help by them signifying in their thread title, and by noticing regular users who post here. however, i can see how troublesome that can be for some people(not really me in the past) its just 2 or so clicks away. |

I have to agree with Dave.
Perhaps the promotion section should be renamed feedback, as that's what it really is. |

What I don't like is the fact that people only visit/use one of the two forums but not both. If we all started using both forums as was originally intended I don't think we'd even be having these kind of discussions.
I find it funny people seem to have some sort of an "us vs. them"-mentality when I always considered these subforums closely connected to each other. |

It's largely the fault of the people who parade around here saying "everything in the MP forum is repetitive ASOT ripoffs" when stuff like prog house, tech, breaks, etc. get posted there all the time by some very talented artists. |

| I personally posted some threads regarding unifished work, I didnt do it with the aim of taking any kind of advantage, but I knew that people that posted in this subforums are more techicaly orientated, thats all. |
