raptors playing at the bell center next week, they haven't even sold 5000 tickets in a 23 000 (for basketball) arena.

Who the would expect the Toronto Raptors to sell tickets in Montreal???

Why would they even play there???

are you kidding? i frequently took buses and trains in the middle of the night when i was in europe and south america. The service was less frequent but i never had to wonder if i was able to get home.

Viva bus by contrast is done at midnight and GO service is a joke at best of times.

I have no choice but to own a car.

I like the improvements, and definitely more cars per line (new lights system bs) will also help the situation. However, one long car means if one wagon breaks the whole train is out of service, whereas current trains just swap the wagon.

But I'm sure half the reason is also for city image. Remember, politics.

Its the same system, only, the cars are open to each other. If one breaks, they can still swap them.

they are trying to expand their market share.

tv ratings, merch, exposure equates profit.

There is no interest in this in montreal, and the majority of the sales are from the states right now.

Professional sports are a global phenomenon with the advances in technology in terms of media. The games are available across the world now, a sports team would be stupid not to try and capitalize on that for profit. Look at what mass media exposure did to teams like MAn
u...20 years ago they didn't have as strong of a fan base globally, and now they are a veritable empire.

you are funny.

If everyone lived in the center of the city, housing price would be outrageous.

Your type would be the first one to bitch about and request public housing.

still waiting for that ping:gsmile:

Well, no, that wasn't the point. The point is - either live in the city or in a transit-accessible suburban development, or don't bitch that there aren't 24-hour subways out to your McMansion.

Greater transit service out to the suburbs would be a good thing, but first they need to change their development patterns to make that actually feasible. You either increase density for improved transit service, or go with out it if you want low-density. The former is whats economically sustainable, anyway. The latter would be rather socialist.

Also, everyone living in the centre of the city would be a paradox, you do realize? ;)

They look great but do we really need them?

more seating and(from what I perceived reading elsewhere)..having these trains allow for installing a more efficient signaling system, which our subway system has been dying for, for a very very long time. We've got a joke of a subway system compared to most metro cities in North America.

I usually don't agree with most things that the TTC does, but this seems like a small step in the right direction
