dude i feel for him. my dad is in the same position. once you get to a certain age you are no longer marketable in the job market.

Don't have him look for an electrician's job.

Instead, present him as a safety consultant and/or go for the project consultant role highlighting his years of experience and his track record of sites/jobs/projects he's worked on or clients he's worked for.

It's all in how you sell skills that will translate into a proper income regardless of his age.

Never forget: There is absolutely no substitute for real life experience.

Hell, if you can sell it based on his ability to transfer knowledge to apprentices, then he could lead a team of n00bs under the title of manager and make a solid dollar based on the fact that the company wouldn't have to pay the apprentices to get the work done while he gets a full salary based on 50% of the money he's saving that company.

But, I've been drinking. Heavily. So take it with a grain of salt & if you want more ideas (if I have any) the hit the pm button.

Matt... Exactly the right answer...

Or he can freelance as an independent contractor. Perhaps he has connections in the business from when he worked for the company? Some of their customers? There is no reason why he cant go back and drum up business with them and steal it away from his former employers if thats the case. I know a guy who did exactly the same thing.

Just wondering - where is he working now?
