Synths! Which one??!! Ahhhhh!!

Hi. This is my first post here. Didn't really know where to post this one. Anyway, I am looking into getting into hardware synths. I don't know, doing it all ITB really seems to get in my way. Even with a good controller, I just feel limited. Anyway, my range is around $600-$800. I could go up to 1k, but that'd really be pushing it. For now, I think it'd be best to stick to $600-$800. The ones I'm considering are (in somewhat of an order):
Korg Radias
Roland Sh-01 Gaia
Waldorf Blofeld
Novation supernova
Used Nord Lead 2x (maybe later)
Novation ks rack
Left out the tetra because after coming off of using softies, I'm leaning toward something with clear and uncluttered knobbage (like the radias and gaia). I know I'll have a chance to try out the gaia in a store. Not sure about the others. |

My personal order of preference:
Nord Lead 2x (if you can find a NL3 for <$800, I'd recommend that as well)
Novation supernova
Waldorf Blofeld
Korg Radias
Novation ks rack
Roland Sh-01 Gaia
Granted, the only synth in that list that I haven't used is the Gaia, but it looks like a cheap plastic toy IMO. |

| Bloefeld has by far the most modulation capabilities compared to any other synth on the market right now. Even the virus TI 2. IT also allows for user wavetables. The synth is rather easy to get around despite the lack of knobs and it is extremely cheap. If you want to make interesting sounds, this is something to think about. The demos don't really do it justice. The virus has more effects but then again , you can add effects in the DAW which you can't do with the intricate modulation matrix. |

What kind of sounds you looking for? |

Pretty smooth sounds I'd say. I make house, electro house, progressive house, tech/minimal house, and dabble in dnb and psytrance. |

| You can prob get a used virus snow for that price range. Not saying its better than nord, I'd love to have a nord myself too but I do love my snow. It does everything rather well except for bass imo.. I use mainly trilian for that. |

I agree. If it was my decision, I'd go with the Snow if you want more features, on-board FX, and DAW integration. But, I'd go for the Nord if you want a knobby interface loaded with dedicated controls and fewer parameters buried in menus. Both are plenty capable for your style of music. |
