Thanks man! And yea, that is probably my favorite track in this mix.

Also, a lot of the stuff you're looking for is probably in the techno section.

Yep, I'm sure most of the tracks in Adam's set he posted are categorized as techno on beatport. The progressive house subsection is cluttered with watered down trance (Anjunadeep for example) and Axwell/SHM singles. Searching by label is much better..

Mistique Music is a cool dark prog label, check it out.

if you want prog....

Eelke Kleijn is the man

just tooo bad he has yet to be booked in north america

Frank Zappa tried to define "underground" by noting that the "mainstream comes to you, but you have to go to the underground."

plenty of good prog out there

I don't think a lot of the big guys associated with prog lost interest as much as they tried to stay ahead of the curve and got out before it inevitably went down for the safety of their careers. Nothing that gets as big as that sound was stays, and there's always a backlash afterwards.

The best place I for prog in Mtl in my experience was Living, when Miche & Sultan were the residents, and their manager brought in everyone and their mother to play. I had many great nights there. Stereo has always been slow on Fridays, regardless of style, unless there is a huge name.

I miss prog. When it's done well, it just has so much emotion and feels like it's taking you places, more so for me than other styles do. I've checked a couple of Hernan's sets and mixes and what he's playing doesn't do it for me the way prog should. It feels mechanical and has no funk, none of the thick basslines I always loved. Nothing has ever come close to topping Deep Dish's GU Moscow for prog imo.

I had so much fun that night.

Dubfire played a lot of good prog tunes last april, too bad the programming of his set was all over the place, he switched up the mood way too much to let the set flow and develop.

I love prog, but at the same time... I think I prefer listening to it on my headphones in my room with the lights off where I can just soak everything in.. for example Adam's mix, I couldn't listen to it at the gym but I loved it at home just relaxing.

Hey Romchik22,

Just want to inform you that there is a lot of prog in Montreal. You just need to find it!!

There is one crew in Montreal who still plays lots of good, non-cheezy prog. We had an event with them two weeks ago, at UN, it was called IN PROGRESS V.13.

DJs in that crew include CAMO, FM RADIO GODS, Olivier Saint-Germain...Camo takes care of the Montreal-based prog label Attitude Recordings. Lookout for their events. They are more underground events.

Also, the NOERG crew often organizes events in town with bookings such as D-Nox & Beckers, Extrawelt, etc. Events at Daomé or in private warehouse style venues.

There are also other housier prog DJs who are booked regularly such as Julian Prince, Greg Pidcock, Tone Depth just to name a few.

Last category is the trancier prog DJs who mix ''melodic prog'' and trance. DJ Malek for example and most local trance talent spin this type of prog.
