| meh... overrated. I've driven several different types of Volkswagons (minus the CC which I hear is pretty nice).... the Golf, the Jetta, the Touareg, and the Passat, and they ALL feel like they're going to start flying apart when you exceed 65 mph on the highway. I know they're cool rides in the minds of hipsters and people who think they're part of the underground-yet-preppy-yet-alternative socialites (not saying this is you), but I just don't see the appeal. If your budget is $17,000 to $20,000 there's a lot of other choices out there, including some pretty sweet used cars. |

Fuuuuuuuuuck that. My '04 GTI is sturdy as at high speeds, in fact the handling was one the deal sealers.
I have a '04 GTI and a '03 Golf, I love them both. The GTI has been flawless, no problems at all. The Golf was used when I bought it, so not sure about prior problems, but I've only experienced car bag issues (seat belt wiring getting stretched because of the forward folding seats, which then messes up the airbag system), which is pretty common. |

Hmm. Never tried the GTI before. Have you tried the Eos? |

That's how it is here in America. They even make commercials aimed at that demographic. |

Really? They're very common cars over here, definitely not 'hipster' or whatever. |

| I don't know that there's even a demographic that would identify as "underground-yet-preppy-yet-alternative." |

Haha... yeah I can't really explain but I know one when I see one. It's like, the beta male type guy sporting skinny jeans with a green Lacoste sweater over a button down shirt, collar showing... has designer eye glasses (possibly without a prescription), hair styled with gel like a hipster, and still shows his urban/street cred at the same time evidenced by a lip piercing and/or neck tatoo peeking out from under that collar. Probably works at Starbucks, Microsoft, or has been working on his dissertation for 4 years now. |

Had one, piece of garbage. Put together in Mexico. Things broke off of it every couple months and it's expensive to replace them. Consumer Magazine does an annual car review every year. It's often rated quite poorly. It was a great car manufacturer but its gone downhill a bit in the last decade.
Overall, I'm leaning closer to Honda's for overall reliability and service. |
