i think all classical composers would punish current producers badly, in melodical terms it's obvious that nobody has beaten them
Kinda hard to beat the guys that wrote the rules on it eh?
I beg to differ slightly. Meh @ giving specific examples, but there are some eargasms I've experienced that have only come from trance.
I've heard assloads of classical music in my day as well...
Bach in my mind is das master. His use of polyphony was just amazing (Bach Suite 6 Gigue for example)

Would saying 'Donna Summer - I Feel Love' or 'New Order - Blue Monday' count? :)
Not technically EDM at the time of their production, but you could argue that by today's standards, they certainly fall into that category. And their influence upon the genre is unmatched imo.

I think these are good shouts.
People throwing trance anthems like Sandstorm, Carte Blanche or Gamesmaster need to get a grip. We're talking Beethovens 5th of DANCE music, not just trance. If some of you widened your scope just a little, you'd find there are probably dozens of dance tunes that would come ahead of any trance tune.....and this is coming from someone who was obsessed with trance for many years!
I'd also like to throw in Candi Statons - You've got the love. I have no idea how it did sales wise but a massive tune, well written and recognised everywhere. Plus it sounds as fresh and relevant today as it did back then.

What do you think about Above & Beyond - Satellite, was in the UK general chart i believe, imo this is a very very overrated track , like everything a&b does...

It was "oceanlab" with satellite, but i dont think it charted as high as dirt devils - the drill which is also above and beyond minus Tony McGuinness..
Would'nt agree its overrated

i'd agree with those saying Thriller...
the reason Beethoven's 5th symphony is so popular is the opening "bum bum bum baaaah"
Thriller is the only other track i can think of that has that same effect. the opening bars of thriller are VERY distinctive...
