George Lucas decides to further erode the Star Wars legacy

What the ing hell is wrong with this megalomaniac? Not only is he planning to re-release the original trilogy in 3-D... not only is he planning on a 100 (minimum) episode Star Wars TV series... but he's also going to create and produce another Star Wars movie trilogy completely independent of anything Skywalker?

quote:
George Lucas is plotting to create new Star Wars movies at the ultra top-secret Skywalker Ranch. This is deja vu of the mid ’90s when Uncle George started tweaking the Holy Trilogy to gear up for the Special Editions. These new film will have nothing to do with the live action television series currently in development. That show already has over 50 scripts ready to go and plenty of pre-production time and money has been spent on artwork and storyboards. Once that show goes into production, Lucasfilm hopes to be able to produce at least 100 episodes since that is the threshold for syndication in the United States. Fans can expect the new trilogy after the entire saga is released in 3D which is expected to be complete around 2015 or 2016.

So despised are the prequels that news of new entries into the greatest sci-fi franchise in movie history now cause most of us to recoil in disgust rather than jump for joy. A sad day my friends.

im actually looking forward to the live-action series. mostly coz lucas has stated it will be more like BSG, with darker tone and more mature elements. yeah yeah, take with a grain of salt, but it could hardly be worse than the prequels.

not sure how i feel about even more movies. maybe if someone else writes them. like JMS!!! that would be epic :)

I don't care what anyone says, Revenge of the Sith is tied with Empire as the best ever. Yeah, the first two were cheese, but he really pulled it together in the third. I think so many people just lump three in with the first two, where if they looked at it stand-alone, they'd see it very differently.

As for re-releasing them all in 3D, I'm not surprised at all. I'll skip the first two, but I'll probably see the rest in the theater.

And you'd be a megalomaniac too if you created Star Wars :D

Didn't he announce there was another trilogy years ago?

I thought that was the plan from the very beginning.

haha... good point. My ego would be a goddamn leviathan. Revenge of the Sith was pretty cool but I can't get past such a bland no-talent hack like Hayden Christensen being in that role; tied with Empire? Come on man!

PKC- I noticed you have a pretty serious BSG infatuation. What's that all about? :p

Mark Hamill takes the cake as worst actor of the whole series, no contest. As for comparisons between Revenge of the Sith and any of the old ones, the nostalgia factor is the only thing giving the originals a leg up imo.

Yeah good ole Mark is another Lucas casting blunder. Chewbacca had better acting chops.

I'd like to see a cross-over between Star Wars and Snakes on a Plane.

Just saying.
