Weren't they "tipped" off?
I wonder who called..... |
wouldn't doubt if they were tipped off. that kind of happens all the time. Fire Marshals kinda know that its some hater (competing group or whatever) causing trouble but they have to make their rounds. They'll usually do a run through, blah blah and tell the club "no more people allowed in". And thats it.
Playhouse was shut down last Saturday due to a big fight that occurred inside. I feel the city is acting very peculiar lately. |

| Yeah, when I spoke to a fireman very briefly he said they had been tipped off about the venue being over cap. I guess they came to check it out, and decided to shut it down even though it was at a normal capacity for Avalon. The firemen were inside at like 10:30 when I got there so somebody obviously had got their attention about the venue. |

typical . just surprised they shut it down. its so rare they do that kind of stuff.
I hate for any event to be shut down. Lots of people lose money. I'm not talking about the owners ( them) but the employees (bartenders/backs, security, etc). They don't get paid when the club is closed and this is what they do for a living. |

legal capacity of avalon is 1,200.
they usually ave 3,000 people each saturday as per a manager I know there.
so yes, they usually let in 3x more people than "allowed" |

i think the 3K # is more like the total # of people through the door all nite versus there at any one moment.... no question all busy clubs put more people inside that their stated maximum occupancies.... once in a while they get called out on it.
as Billy said it sounds like it prob was a competitor since the fire marshalls were there so early (1030). One of my favorite stories in this area was a buddy of mine was promoting a 'hollywood' type of club and the fire department had been called around 10pm saying they were over capacity and it was unsafe. strange thing was the club hadn't even opened their doors yet  |
