Shall we throw Francois K into the mix? He is certainly another pioneer from back in the 1970s, who is still rocking out the biggest festivals in the world, including Sonar, Exit and Global Gathering.

Another Mixmag gimmick but whatever. I assume Armin would win just because he's already got top vote this year, why wouldn't people vote for him as the best of all time? It's always about who the voters are, and I'd say a good, high, percentage of voters are who's into it "now", and not many who has been "around". Everyone votes for their current favorite anyway. Armin shouldn't even appear in the top 10 in my honest opinion. I say Tiesto only because he revolutionized EDM, but if you want to go as far as saying a "DJ" we should be looking at the old 80's rap/hip-hop scratch dj's who revolutionized the art & music.

i voted Carl!

there are a few questionable names on that list but for the most part its quite the collection of DJs.

OK I just went through that list and have some thoughts...

Firstly, I've never even heard of some of them...

Second, There are a few on there who, whilst they are the originators, they do not have the longevity to be considered for the greatest of all time...

So I can narrow that list to about half who are actually eligible imho...

And what about the obvious missing ones???

Who came up with this damn list???

agreed. Atleast Half of those names don't deserve to be on there.

Beat me to the punch.

I have to say, though, on a personal level Tiesto is what started it all for me. I can't say he's been on my radar for years, but I have to give him props for giving me something to get hooked on. Trance energy 2001 catapult to industrial techno ftw ;)

I voted Carl too....I am surprised that Moby is not on that list.

If we're talking about DJs who crucially shaped the scene during it's most developmental phases, then someone like Tiesto seems to be the obvious answer.

In that case, Oakenfold is one who paved the way for everyone and he should be crowned. IMO, 1999 was still the Golden Ages and cannot be replicated.
