Nick...

Tiesto is a noob compared to some of the other talent out there...

He's only been big for almost ten years...

Some of these guys have been active for more than 30!!!

Indeed!

But I was referring to the late-90s era, during which time EDM really exploded (it did, didn't it?). Tiesto is one of the main DJs who drove that massive expansion - right? I've been in the scene since only 2006; I never personally experienced the 'glory days' of EDM (i.e., at the end of the 20th century) so I may be mistaken ... :)

Tiesto really blew up in 2001...

I don't think he was too big before then...

I think there have been three massive expansions of DJs. The 70s saw discos being backed every night....maybe not so much to see actual DJs but this is the real start of DJs becoming more then just the person who changed the records on the radio. The early to mid 90s is probably when DJs started becoming celebrities and there was massive changes in electronic music.

Tiesto is definitely the most recent DJ to bring electronic music back to the masses and I think he does deserve a lot of credit for what he has accomplished. Personally, I don't like the path he has taken the music but to each their own. He has truly taken DJing beyond just spinning records and has made it an entire performance.

how in the hell did they leave out vengaboys and dj junior??

Exactly.
And i only say this to those who say Tiesto revolutionized edm.
Oaky ushered in the age of superstar DJ amongst other things...

To me, the greatest DJ ever is Sasha, hands down.

This "list" lost any "credibility" it hoped to have when John Digweeds name was omitted. Not saying he's the greatest, but his is a name that deserves to be in the discussion as much as anyone else. Surely moreso than Tiesto

the problem is what are the criteria for being the greatest DJ of all time....is it actual DJ skills or what.
