You know... a U.S. World Cup might have tipped the scales for soccer to become a "real" sport around here. Poor U.S.A. soccer. :sadgreen:

Isn't that what they said in 94?
Joss Weatherby
Other countries don't want a US interest in Soccer because we will just become the best country at it (well, we will have the best teams made from all of the other countries players).

The state of Soccer in 94 was WAY different to the state of soccer today. Today there are more fans and an interest. World Cup in the states would have been a win win win situation. Not a loose loose gambling situation like Qatar.

I think that FIFA is secretly plotting and conspiring in the downfall of the USA...just saying

No US world cup again until you stop being silly and start calling it football.

Soccer will never be popular in U.S. and I'll tell you why. Did you ever notice how all popular sports in U.S. are set up so that there are commercials or some sort of a break every 5 minutes or even more often? Do you know why that's the case? Because the majority of people have severe ADD. More importantly the popular sports give a chance for the league and TV networks to make crazy ad revenue because of these frequent commercial breaks, something that would be impossible with Soccer (that's the reason Hockey is not popular either.)

As hard as it is to believe and accept, the corporations tell the American people what to like or not like. Look at Apple for example.
