Was a pretty fun night. First time going out in Toronto since Armin debacle in Apr so it's been long overdue. Didn't have high expectations or anything so enjoyed the tunes for most part.
Ashley Wallbridge was ok. W&W was awesome. Sander van Doorn who? Seriously. JOC started ok but started to get too fluffy with badly produced 'tech' trance and I called it a night at 4am. Like, hearing two of my most hated vocal trance tunes... Yeah. JOC needs to retire Big Sky... Getting too old for this stuff. :o (What the heck was the garbage that was being played in the drink?)
This even for me was to see a lot of friends I haven't seen in a long time. I really missed my TA friends so it was great to see a lot of you and reconnect again. Though do me a favour. If I say I want to go to the sandbox again, please shoot me. ;P
Genghis Khan will ride again! ;)
PS: Chinamon is really bad at hide and go seek. I think he might be better at hide and go himself. (love you too Jay) :p

Yohan it was a shame I didn't get to see you.....
I wanted to shake your hand...
I thought JOC was the best of the guests that I saw. I did leave at 3:30 though..
Knox and Pooper, I have to appologise again...

Went to guv with some friends from UW who liked trance music but hadn't been to guv before and mostly didn't know what to expect; I think overall they had quite a good time (lightgasms, nitro, lasers and all). Met up with some raver friends there who were ditching neurodance for trance music instead.
Got in pretty early; MO played some good tunes but seemed awfully similar to the trance he played at purple room a few months ago. Some memorable tunes:
iio - rapture (avicii remix)
markus schulz - perception
gareth emery - sanctuary
Then Ashley Wallbridge got on and HOLY ... I was BLOWN THE AWAY. He played a lot of interesting mashups and remixes. Some tracks:
Gareth Emery ft Brute Force - Arrival (?? Remix)
Wippenberg - Pong
Gouryella - Gouryella!?!?!?
Ashley Wallbridge - Chimera (sounds WAY better on Vola's sound system than guv's, unfortunately)
Ashley Wallbridge feat. Elleah - Walk on Water
Gareth Emery - Global
Tydi - Good Dream (Barnes & Heatcliff Remix)
Disfunktion - Desolee (Radion 6 Remix) (was TOTALLY NOT EXPECTING THIS; pleasantly surprised as I didn't know anyone actually played radion 6 except me; IMO radion 6 is AMAZINGLY GOOD)
So much other good that I can't remember.
W&W were good; didn't recognize most of what they played, but I enjoyed it. Spent a lot of their set wandering around guv with my friends so didn't get to hear most of it.
JOC was boooooring, for the most part. BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS *epic trance breakdown* BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS *epic trance breakdown* BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS BOOM TSS *epic trance breakdown* ... Every track sounded the same and the only thing trancey left about this guy's sets were the breakdowns.
A notable exception that I was happy (but not surprised) to hear was
Jon O'Bir feat. Fisher - Found A Way (Joint Operations Centre Remix)
which is IMO just a really ing good vocal track. But sidechained basslines sound so disappointing on guv's speakers when they're turned up all the way; the bass is just way too distorted and ty. Dunno; I think I'm no longer a fan of tech-trance at guv unless it's the SvD-style clean & crisp sounding tech-trance rather than just BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM.
Towards the end of his set, lots of classics were played.
Big Sky...
Push - Universal Nation '99 (Ferry Corsten remix)
Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes (??? ty Tech Trance Remix)
Tyas was a lot better than JOC. Opened with
Eminem feat. Rihanna - Love The Way You Lie (Sean Tyas Remix)
... wtf? OK then.
Played a lot of tyas-trance and some pretty full-on techno at times. A track I surprisingly enjoyed was
Linkin Park - New Divide (Estigma Bootleg)
Overall, very good night. One of my knees started to hurt while walking back to the greyhound station and is now VERY sore. I hope nothing's wrong. Bleah. Time to lie down.
Thanks to Nadejda, Annamaria, and Joel for being such awesome partners in crime. Cheers to John, Ryry, and everyone else I met as well, especially for letting me play with all your glowsticks and finger LEDs.
My friend Annamaria lost her coat check ticket and the staff there were able to get her coat back to her without making her wait until the end of the night because of her very one-of-a-kind bearhatmittenscarf and the fact that her ID was in the pocket. Thanks to them for being soooo nice.
Slightly sad that I missed meeting up with a lot of TAs; I just couldn't find anyone!
And yeah; WTF was with that in the drink... LOL

The drink has been like that for a while now and yes, it is a travesty...

At Ultra Spin they had the same thing... Top 40 club anthems in The Drink, and they all sounded really muffled. Not sure if his mixer was on the fritz or what but it sounded awful :(
Ick. I really hope they fix that soon.
