I"ve seen him play better than that but his technique is quite bad and always seems to be straining when the motion should be quite fluid. I also can't stand rock piano.

I can't stand rock piano either, I was just referring to pretty much the speed I guess. I could never do that.

ya you could. Well I suppose it depends how old you are but he isn't really playing that fast. Practicing arpeggios and scales every day for 2 hours for 4 years will give you that.
Check this girl out. We went to the same school and had the same teacher. Notice how much more relaxed she is using her arms taking the strain from the wrists. Much faster and much more control.
