Hating on Americans

Why is it? It seems pretty hard for me to think of any possible explanation for hating 300 million people simply for living in the same geographical area.
I completely understand hatred towards the government, or various individuals in the government or public sector, but it's getting pretty ing annoying constantly seeing people hating on other people simply for the fact that they are American.
What you're doing is literally no different at all from people that hate black people because they're black.
Somebody please enlighten me as to when 300 million people all became the exact same type of person.
Is hating Americans the fashionable thing to do? Do you really have nothing more clever to say than to insult a person based on the country they live in (like they had any choice where they were born anyway)? I really don't understand it. |

Regardless, when Bush was elected the first time, Gore won the Popular vote. So if over 50% of Americans did NOT vote for him...then.....
That's my whole point, and you're proving it right now. You can't generalize an entire population of a country because of what you know about less than half of them. |

u allowed it to happen, the only thing needed for evil win is good doing nothing. if less than 50% of US wanted him why the hell didnt you storm the white house? s allowing to happen. that and your healthcare. btw i can generalize anything i want. maybe its time you have more than just two partys? |
I think you're missing the point entirely... |

That's your problem in the first place - believing that's people's dislike of your nation has anything to do with the current government or foreign policy. Foreigners couldn't care less about who runs your country.
Well, I just realised that I made a mistake above. People in poor countries hate you for your foreign policy. People in rich countries just hate you.
The problem with these threads is that the person asking this very question will invariably tell the people answering truthfully that they're wrong, ignorant, jealous or making generalisations. Thus, I'm not going to bother. The last time this went down I failed to explain myself adequately and looked like a bigot, rather than the person saying what everyone else thinks but is too nice to say. |

I don't think it necessarily is based on the government running the country. I was responding to what Kenny said because it seemed like he was saying that it was based on who has been elected to run the country.
If what you're saying is true, and it's not the government, then what is it?
Yes, I am American, but I'm not just going to sit here and refute anything anyone says negatively about Americans.
I think to be as clear as possible, the thread is to discuss why people hate AmericaNS not America as a country. |

what is your point? that all americans are individuals and each and everyone is special? lol. |
And what is yours? That all Americans are just mindless drones who follow the terrible hivemind of America? Please. |

I'm saying that during the Holocaust, not all Germans were evil or stupid or hateful people. Your example is a pretty good one, and seems to fit pretty well here, but it still doesn't justify it at all.
The statement of anyone who watches evil and doesn't do anything isn't really valid however. Yes, the public elects the President, Congress, etc. but once they're in power, nobody votes on going to war, or not going to war. So, no, the average American had no power to stop whatever happened in the third world.
Besides, I'm not really sure what you're getting at by implying that anything that happens in the third world is solely Americans' faults.
Also, I'm 23.
Edit: My point is that when you make a list of why you hate Americans, you must first lump every single American into the same group, which is completely illogical. Any subjective hatred you have of "Americans" would have to be directed towards each individual American, or at least the majority of Americans for it to be valid at all. So, find me 150 million Americans that you have met, and hate for one reason or another, and then you can tell me the reasons why you hate AmericanS. |
