Free Art Department download on Beatport.....
(not sure why it's free, but not complaining!)

Both versions are great.

Well my question to you is, would you have chosen this as the top song of the year before this list was posted by RA? I bet if this song wasn't even on the list, none of you would be saying "why wasnt 'art department - without you' on the list?".

Good point. It's not worthy of being a 'number 1' track. They managed to release the right sound at the right time.. and congrats to them for that.

Thank you "jad" for your credible and insightful commentary.

Who are you to say what is worthy and not worthy of being number one?
WittyHandle
Ranking in the RA charts is something to be proud of. But Mixmag?
Zyklon_Jay
just for lulz, what makes you think that any of these ranking systems are more credible than the other?

RA is the djmag for people that moved on from trance but still want to vote for pointless things so that they may argue about why "track/dj/venue" should be higher on the list when in reality all of these lists are complete farces.

RA has better articles, but if you stick around it long enough you see that the majority of people there are just as clueless and ignorant as the unicorn peddlers.

I'm sorry, regardless of what you think about their userbase (which I disagree with you about), RA has more credibility to say what is worth and what is not worth being the #1 track than some dude named "jad" on TA.
Zyklon_Jay
so this list is a definitive what is the best of the best and is not based on the opinions of a handful of people with the intention of telling their readership what they should buy?

i don't really have any feelings about this track bad or good...so i'm really just wondering what you guys view as something that makes a source more credible.

charts like these are a farce...it really does not matter who does them to be honest.

So, what makes these sources credible? What is it that gives a chart made by person a more weight than person b. If you disagree with me point of view, elaborate. These aren't based on sales figures, they are based on opinions.
WittyHandle
Who said anyone thought anything was definitive? Find a media outlet whose tastes align with yours and they're credible to you. I'm sure Mixmag's readers think they're on the right path. No harm in that imo.

They do matter. They help people find starting points of entry into an overwhelming sea of music. Anyone who stops at their suggestions only limits themselves. If someone finds their tastes fall out of sync with those suggested in the charts, they probably begin to look elsewhere for recommendations.
Zyklon_Jay
ding ding ding.

i would say most of dance music media is extremely niche based, and therefore never really accurately represent anything oustide of that niche.

I read RA almost daily, so i see where the site has some value...but there is just as much idiocy there as on other sites, the idiots just like the same music as you so you notice them a bit less. I'm talking about the actual contributors and not people in the peanut gallery.

Some of the guys/gals on there thrust some tiesticle like love in the exact same way as the pose lovers do onto their false idols. The packaging is different, but you are still eating the same saltine crackers.
WittyHandle
Sure it's niche based, but again anyone using one source for everything is only limiting themselves. Like anything, the more you search out, the more you find. As for idiots, they're everywhere. Expecting to find anywhere immune to them is pointless.

That's ego, and will be found to some degree wherever humans are involved. Again, focus on what you like, and ignore the rest.

everyone has these two things.....

you can argue about this all day long.

here's some facts:

Mixmag is the biggest magazine in the world dediacted to EDM

RA is the BEST source on the web for anything EDM. Labels, Artists and everyone inbetween. They're subscribership has some dummies (whose doesnt, look at the board we're on currently for christ sakes)

Being in these two things is worthy. its super worthy.

anyone saying otherwise either doesnt know what they are talking about, or they are jealous.

For those wanting further explanation to my points above, it all comes down to this:

Other than that, I'm not getting into an internet battle with people I don't know or care about.
