While that possibly could hold ground, a charge like obscenity is very very very generic and vague. Numerous cases have gone to the Supreme Court and the result has always fallen on the side of free speech.

But that's not for you to decide.

This issue is for the courts to decide.

Speaking of WTFlorida:

Mother abandons disabled son at Sea World
quote:
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - A mother was arrested by Orange County deputies after they say she left her 21-year-old disabled son alone at a SeaWorld play area.

Rosa Pou, 44, was arrested Monday when a SeaWorld security officer noticed what he thought was an 8-year old child alone for more than an hour in a play area. Deputies say the son has mental disabilities. They initially thought he was 8 years old based on his size.

When park security finally found the mother she refused to allow a paramedic to attend to her son. Deputies say she was joking about her son getting lost. Pou told deputies that she had left her son under the supervision of her daughter. The daughter told investigators that she left her brother at the playground because he refused to go with her.

Pou was charged with with neglect of a disabled person and resisting an officer without violence.

The son was turned over to the care of his father.

You assume correctly.

My main wtf though is how a state could technically put down any law they want on the books and somehow incriminate someone from another state.

Usually in cases like these, and especially in cases involving things as vague as obscenity charges, the crime falls on the person in the jurisdiction where the crime takes place, as in the purchaser.

If someone in Florida bought regular legal porn off Amazon, would they try and arrest Jeff Bezos? No, they would arrest the purchaser. The person purchasing the material needs to be aware of the statutes that affect their ability to purchase things.

This is just a quick way to make headlines for the Sherrif and attempt to carry out some justice on a, admittedly, sick person who has technically done nothing wrong (even if you think his book is obscene, it wasn't in Colorado, where there is no law against that, at least as far as I know of).
