Oops, yeah, I realized that after I posted and before I clicked the link, duh. Thanks!

No worries! A couple of years ago she did another children's album with more modern production, I think it's on iTunes under her name...

Holy man, when can I buy the full version? This is some real nifty stuff, straight up. Dig the vocals a lot, and the bass is :eyespop:

Protastic sound mate - open, clear yet full on, top draw.

Vocals are perfectly balanced for me.

Nice. I like that soft pluck. Though I'm having quite a hard time trying to perceive the lyrics when the bassline and percussion surround her voice. Maybe it's only my hearing.

Good job. I hope it goes well for you both.

:D I'll have the track finished in the next couple of weeks, and then I'll start looking for a good label...so it'll probably be a few months - spring/summer....

Thanks for giving it a listen. The next time I work on the track I'll listen out for that conflict :)

Thank you :) My monitors are a pair of Alesis Prolinear 820's, which I find help me to get a nice sounding mix.

Awesome Job!
I've read from your site, that you started producing in 2007.
How did you get your tracks so f***ing good in such a short time? I really started in 2008 and my stuff sounds at most 'mediocre'. :sadgreen:

Richard Butler
Promungussound and production. You've bought it up to date nicely too. Awesome.

Thanks, that's a very cool compliment! Some days I think my productions sound good, other days I think they sound terrible...lol.

In terms of getting a good sound:

1) I'm very critical about my own work, and I constantly A/B my tracks to tracks I consider excellently produced, so this has helped me a lot.

2) I do music full time now, partly through choice and partly through circumstances, so I can spend a lot of time learning and improving. I was an Officer in the Royal Air Force for 10 years, but was medically discharged and I can't currently do a 'normal' job.

3) Apart from the normal rules about mixing etc, I think one of the most important parts of getting a good overall sound, is sound choice, as in patch choice. I find that if I get a set of sounds that work well together, I don't have to fiddle around with EQ much at all, I just roll off below 200-250hz (except for bass and kick), and leave it at that.

4) Tricks such as parallel compression and mid-side mastering help. Also, splitting some tracks (bass for example) into 2-3 layers, all treated differently.

5) I have what I think are a good pair of monitors, they work for me anyway - Alesis Pro Linear 820's. My room is completely untreated though (it's just our master bedroom actually).

I'm still trying to improve though, and I don't consider myself 'there' yet. If you ever think you've made it, sound quality wise, compare your tracks to Matt Lange's and be ready to weep.....
