No offence, but, mixing MP3s together on a PC does not make you a producer. |

mixing, djing and producing...... |

So then what the is Danny D? I would Love to DJ with TT and a manual Mixer but I ain't got the Dinero. Tuition is a hole in my pocket.
Besides, for my mixes, I create the website, the Name of the Cd and design the covers all for it myself and they look a lot better than MC mario's, Danny D's and that flacid Has-been Chris sheppard. the Problem is tho, no one would market me, as I would Make my disgust towards those Radio DJs obvious:happy2: But Someday... who knows. Just a hobby now. |

Danny D is a radio personality isn't he? I'm not familiar with him at all, so I don't know if he produces tracks or not. Same with MC Mario. Just personalities who lend their names to CD compilations in order to sell them. Chris Sheppard is also a radio personality, but at least he has been involved in music production (BKS, Love Inc). Generally when you refer to a producer, it means they have actually produced music, not just mixed it together.

Con, Danny D, Marky D, yes... they work for Z and yes they are radio personalities... but they are also excellent dance Dj's ... I think you guys have hostility towards them because they are into a different music style, but that’s beyond the point.
I know them personally, and I might not agree to some of the things they do, but they are the ones that have broke some major track in TO, and the rest of the country (as per the record labels) follows the music scene that is here.
Music scene in Toronto is a bit ed right now because of the US influence (hip-hop and R&B) of the Top 40 Billboard Chart. As most people know that music goes in cycles, and now we are in the Hip-Hop and R&B phase, and this is what’s considered as the “Top 40 music”.
I think things will change by next summer.
Last night I was at a meeting of with 105 Top Toronto Dj’s (you know most of them) and 9 record labels. Record sales are down in Canada, by approximately 60%, HMV has lost over 35% of their clientele. According to the marketing people from the record labels say that the number one point of purchase of cd’s in this country is at Wal-Mart and the number two is Future Shop, now there is something wrong with that.
This is the problem as I see it.
The radio stations dictate what is good and what is not, and most dj’s have to follow that format or they get condemned, by the crowd and the club owners. Back in the day it was the dj’s that have broke the records, now it’s hard because the new generation clubbers (mainstream) are clueless to what’s good and what’s not, and for a dj to play something that will be hot in the next 3 to 6 moths is on thinkable, example of this phenomenon would be, Days Go By – Dirty Vegas. I played that track and it has cleared the dance floor last summer at a major club, and as soon people hear about it on the radio, they run to the dj booth a million times a night to request it.
This industry MUST be dictated by the local dj’s, not the radio stations, more dj’s have to brake track, and hopefully Canadian tracks, because I believe there some phenomenal producers in the city on Toronto, just they never get a brake from the record labels. I have suggested to the labels to have dj’s (and I mean dj’s, the ones with the club gigs. “My Parents Basement Nightclub” is not an actual club) submit tracks that the dj him/her self reviewed, and think that there is a potential. I personally don’t have a problem playing tracks in a club that someone have produced, as long as it fits the format and its clubber friendly.
Don’t get me wrong, I love most of the international BIG name dj’s, but I think there should be more emphasis and support of local dj’s. They are the ones that make the clubs go round and round.
Push the music you like and love, and make the radio stations relies their mistakes, and most of all, be one big family inside of the industry and outside of it, don’t worry about someone else’s music preference (House/Trance/Hip-hop/Euro ECT) , as long they are enjoying it, they will come.

Man if you call them actual Dj's...................?????????
I personally think that they are just amateur radio persons
who does not know anything about the real club music, except commercial stuff
Compare them to some local stars radio/djs in UK
like John Digweed, Tall Paul who appears a lot on the radio,
they are nobody compare to them....... |
