I personally think that they are just amateur radio persons
who does not know anything about the real club music, except commercial stuff
Compare them to some local stars radio/djs in UK
like John Digweed, Tall Paul who appears a lot on the radio,
they are nobody compare to them....... |
Mecha is right. They are radio Djs over there as well and seem to put on a better show that Danny D or MArky D Who are so full of themselves. I listen to z103 (god forbid) at work since it plays the least hip hop out of all radio stations. Putting that aside every ing time I hear Danny D and Marky D or Pauly P on the friggin radio they keep yelling like they own the place and tho they do not say it, that they are the best in there. They sound like a bunch of Monkeys who are fighting over a bananna or something :stongue:. I saw him mix and it is nothing compared to what Digweed does. Danny D was a nobody until (from what I learned) his uncle bought Z103.5 which used be called Hot 103.5, hits 103.5. He was Nothing until he got a little push from his uncle. I never heard of the guy b4 that nor did I ever see him as advertised in a big club event.
I am gonna start pushing for better music and I Will try to convince every club bunny I come across and explain to them what is going on. I do beleive you are told what to listen to and that ppl only like a song once it has been on the radio.
Man, "PPK - Resurrection" was a song I heard almost 3 years ago at russian clubs and now it is like a big song here. But I let ppl listen to it they said it sucks now the same ppl are like loving the song.
I do not know what is wrong with ppl these days. But I will keep practising and I will continue to make ppl "wake up". Who knows, maybe some day I will kick Danny D off the air. *sigh* one day...... |

This industry MUST be dictated by the local dj’s, not the radio stations, more dj’s have to brake track, and hopefully Canadian tracks, because I believe there some phenomenal producers in the city on Toronto, just they never get a brake from the record labels. I have suggested to the labels to have dj’s (and I mean dj’s, the ones with the club gigs. “My Parents Basement Nightclub” is not an actual club) submit tracks that the dj him/her self reviewed, and think that there is a potential. I personally don’t have a problem playing tracks in a club that someone have produced, as long as it fits the format and its clubber friendly.

Don't take this the wrong way (because I didn't get into this to insult you), but it doesn't really make you anything. You're just a guy who enjoys mixing MP3s together on his computer. Whether you take the next step is up to you...

These guys are professional mainstream radio DJs/personalities. That's what they do for a living. They get paid to entertain the masses.
Listen to DEEJAY CHRIS C. He knows what he's talking about. There is very little support in this city for local producers. |

And I not going to argue if you are better than them or not, because I know dj’s that are nobodies and they will smoke 90% of this industry, but they are nobodies because they refuse to play the political game.
As for “Man if you call them actual Dj's...................?????????” and “Compare them to some local stars radio/djs in UK”
I hope you realize that there is no comparisons.
I think some people have a hard time understanding the local demographic and music infrastructure, and also you have to realize that, Z 103 is targeting cretin groups of listeners, and if Danny D and Marky D and whoever else they have, can actually draw in that market, than in my opinion they are doing a good job, and you have a following of listeners…..
Thursday Night Berlin…. Slammed wall to wall,
Friday Night Splash Nightclub …. Slammed wall to wall.
Saturday Night The Docks … Slammed wall to wall,
If they were bad dj’s they wouldn’t have full houses on their nights.
That’s their target, that’s what they want, that’s what they get, end of story.
Now correct me if I’m wrong, and I might be, but I get a hint of jealousy, that where they are you you’re not? And for that there is no medicine, and I know all about that, because I was there myself, “Walk into a club and listen for the format, mixing and all the rest and think to you’re self, I can smoke him, how the did he get the gig”
Like I said before, there will be dj’s that will never get the break, and most of the dj’s in the club industry that have club gigs blow the big one, that’s just a fact, but be persistent and find ways to make you’re self better, and support local dj’s and artists. |

Yeah I mean people here need to remember one major factor, that us Trance lovers are a minority. Sure, those two guys (danny d ect) may not spin trance but aren't they doing what a DJ is supposed to do, entertain the crowd? Like Deejay Chris C said above, All their club gigs are always jampacked and people come because the DJs play the music they want to hear.
You cannot argue that a certain music genre is better than another because it is impossible. Sure I may not like Hip Hop but a lot of people seem to like it. I like trance music but not alot of people like it. It's all preference. You can't slag on these guys for not playing your style.
Also, even though I haven't heard your mixes, I say there is a good chance they compare to Danny D's and are prolly better. I will say that he isn't a very skilled DJ. He has his moments but overall, he's not that great but he plays for the masses.
Just wait until North America catches up with the club culture of Europe. People say that America is about 10 years behind Europe so just wait. |

I don't think that will ever happen. I do not mean to sound negative or anything nor dis north americans but from what I ahve learned from both experence and what some humanities courses in College have taught me is North Americans are under heavy mind control. I really hate to say that because it is sad. People in the whole world are under mind control but overe here they just go all out. I don't know why ppl don't realize this. But it sucks and unfortunately I do not think it will ever change. The euro scene will never make it over here. Just like DJ CHRIS C said that it is not their market becasue they will want to market something that is "Canadian" hence it will attract the local advertisers to invest into them by advertising and promoting "Canadian" content. Trust me, I do believe they have ways of keeping their market. I never even once heard AVB, Tiesto, PVD's names used on the radio. I just don't think the scene will make it here.
As far as politics goes, there is way too much here. It seems like no matter what subject you touch it ALWAYS involves politics. Bu tI am doing my part by not going to events where they take place and by not buying commercial crap CDs. But untill something changes with the politics of music on the radio Iwill just have to sit here and wait for Trance and much more talented underdog DJs to entertain me. |
