what the is wrong with people? there has never been a greater capacity in the history of our species for the advancement of knowledge and analysis, and these s waste their time with the most outlandish, idiotic notions.
*i got approval for the job etc and did the requisite paper work. then the actual contract for salary was provided. after tax, i am now earning an extra $5 per day, haha. so i took it to the boss and he's gonna fix that for me. which is lucky, otherwise it would've been my shortest term of employment ever! :stongue: |
LOL. Congrats though mate :) |

Quote me in context, Paul :p
Metaphysics wise, you're right: Both are hard to swallow, and I said that. However, astrology can be naturalised if you drop the astro- and turn it into some sort of psychology (so perhaps astronomy and psychology may have rendered astrology obsolete for ever). As Malcolm Gladwell pointed out in his book "Outliers", most hockey players in North America are born in January (Capricorn/Aquarius), February (Aquarius/Pisces), and the first weeks of March (Pisces) because of how the calendar works. So one might say that Capricorn/Aquarius/Pisces are more inclined to become hockey players in the relevant countries, though one should also try to explain why this isn't in the realms of traditional psychology.
Homoeopathy, on the other hand, is so hopeless it needs to change the laws of natural science in order to be naturalised, which should immediately raise some red flags.
So, in short, here's the difference between homoeopathy, astrology and acupuncture, from the most hopeless to the most "promising":- Homoeopathy: The explanations are egregious and it doesn't seem to work better than placebo - therefore, I don't see why anyone should try to save it;
- Astrology: The explanations are egregious, but it sort of gave rise to astrology and it may be considered some sort of personality proto-psychology. Like I said, a good theory doesn't need to be true in the realist sense, so the only challenge is: What sort of facts can be explained by astrology that can't be explained by traditional science already? A conceptual reformulations would be welcome, but not exactly crucial;
- Acupuncture: I'm not exactly a fan of the concept of "qi" but, if I recall correctly (and I don't intend to say I'm sure about the reliability of the following statement), acupuncture seems to be effective (even in animals that can't be affected by the placebo effect, like rats), so though I don't believe these "inner forces" exist, if a systematisation that happens to make use of them works, that's pretty much what matters, and further research should be done in order to understand what's going on here.
See? Not all pseudo-sciences are created the same. And, for the record, just because I tolerate degenerating research programmes, that's not because I think they're true - it's just that there may be one insight or two that may prove useful... though I'm not holding my breath.
Edit: You read "Outliers", didn't you, Shaw? :p |

what relevance? be specific. |
I think what I meant by this is the relevance that if you have a friend that is the same sign as you... you are more likely to agree in the controlled idea of thought that you have similarities since you are the same sign. I feel it gets much deeper than similarities depending on the date of birth and the time of birth.
I have yet to goggle these ideas and I fell that no matter what sign you are, you are still apart of humanity which can collate that Zodiac signs that are an ancient artifact of the past.
Personally I see relevance in the month a person is born but just cause I believe it to be true doesn't make it to be true.
We are superior at this moment compared to our past inept ancestors who were afraid of the dark and took as much pleasure in the day light.
Maybe after looking at all this we can adapt to any shogun we want, just like Timothy Lear said.... while I am on LSD I can adapt to any zodiac sign I want to. |

tell me the mechanism by which a human being is affected by the stars/planets based upon their date of birth which somehow doesn't affect other people born at different times.
Also explain why these effects occur after birth (haha!) and not from the moment of conception.
you are a nutter. |
I don't mean to come off as a nuttier, but religion and Astronomy has to have a slight evolution to it as years go by.
In other words....the artifact of the past has to be evolved as people stumble across the old meanings of this and that and change them to fit their modern day beliefs, morals.... etc. But, as our knowledge expanses due to each generation being smarter than the last, we adapt new solutions to past ideals. Each generation is getting smarter as we all know. Since I am 34 this put me in a position where I can recognize it but then again I have been mentality ill since I was 17 thus saying everything I belief to be is false. |

All I ask in my drunken state, is that you don't compare me to ********.
First of all he bided on a lot of records I was selling on eBay !
Second: I don't know what country he says he is from but when I banned his bid on eBay...he had a USA account...not quite sure where he said he was from but his eBay account was an USA account.
I will try to find the post where this all went down at!
He wanted my recorded so bad that after I banned him from bidding on my records since he had the negative feedback,he created a new account and I let him slide. I know a lot about ******** and he stole my ModernNosfratu as his place. |
