I think it depends on what night (and what type of crowd) you catch him at. I wouldn't get your hopes up for Beta, because the only time I was there it seemed to have an average age of about 20, most of whom eat that vocal trance up.

I saw him in May of last year on his Dusk til Doorn tour at the Guv and he played a ~5-6 hour set that was nothing like the one I heard at Beta recently.

He's been one of my favorite DJs ever since I started listening to Trance, and "Love is Darkness" has been the only vocal track he's ever put out, so I don't necessarily think he is headed down that path...at least I hope not.

I meant too many vocal tracks of others in his sets now. Not necessarily his own productions.

I found it interesting that Beta has since retracted their little "hypothetical" about allowing drugs to be sold on the premises :tongue2

Next thing you know, your post (with Beta's quote) gets that part edited out as well

Yeah, I mean when I saw him in May it wasn't like that at all, but it definitely was at Beta. I'll be seeing him at Ultra in a couple weeks, so hopefully he was just catering to that overly young crowd.

WOW, you honestly know nothing about this business. I wish I could run the #s to you, BUT LETS PRETEND you were correct, and you were my Mr. Drug dealer and you sold little candies for 10$ while I turned a blind eye for your envelope, and lets pretend cost of goods was 10% and lets pretend we spilt profit 50.50 and lets pretend in my little club of 700-1200 people through you sold a redic amount of candies. Lets SAY 1000. and you came to me at the end of the night with 4500$. I would ask you to take that money and shove it .....

There is alot of money in this business and it does not come from dealing drugs.

Definitely changes it up depending on the venue. I mean when I saw him 2006-2008 he spun alot of techno/tech-trance and its totally different now. I understand everyone evolves their sound but I miss the old sound lol

That's the kind of stuff he played when I saw him in May at the Guv. I was really quite surprised at what he was playing at Beta. I definitely noticed him jumping around from genre to genre way more than usual, so it seemed almost like he couldn't get a feel for the crowd, and then they all started going nuts when he threw in some vocal tracks.

I don't know. I've thought over the past couple years that he's one of the only really huge top-10 DJ who hasn't gone down that vocal path, and you can see that in his productions. It wasn't until this year that he released Love is Darkness.

I forgot to mention I also saw him at Electric Zoo in NYC labor day weekend of this year, and it was also nothing like Beta.

*crosses fingers for Ultra*

Do you know any club owners? Do you know anybody who sells in the same place in the same club every weekend for years? Have you talked to that person about why they're never harassed by security?

yes, yes, and yes.

if you think owners are involved then you're on crack. that may be possible with some small venues where the owners dont give a about their business but with big venues the owners dont bother risking their livelihood on small amounts of cash involved with drug dealing in a club. want to know the reason why many dealers dont get hassled by security? its because the bouncers extort money from the dealers. how do i know this? ive seen it happen many times.

It's not risking their livelihood when they'd be getting paid in cash, and thus no paper-trail. Also at some of the bigger clubs, it's most certainly not small amounts of cash involved with drug dealing.

Put it into perspective, doesn't matter how big the club is. It what it would account for in respect to a %. Just to much to lose my friend!

I can vouch for this. I have seen the bouncers walk by the dealers all the time and collect 50s or 100s.

It's 100% profit. I don't understand how there'd be anything to lose. The drugs will be there regardless of whether you'd get money from it or not, so it's not like you're bringing drugs into your club or anything like that.
