Does this make me a racist?

So every time I watch Conan these days I frantically grab for the remote immediately after to avoid George Lopez. Pretty much any Latino comedian there is, I don't like. I don't know what it is, and I really don't think my not liking them has anything to do with their race, but it's to the point where if I'm flipping through the channels and see "Comedy Central Presents: 'Insert Latino Name'" I pretty much will never even try to check it out.
Carlos Mencia, George Lopez, Gabriel Iglesias, I think they're all terrible and seem to all make 90% of their jokes about the same things.

Oh well.

First intoxicated post, sorry if I'm rambling.

Well George Lopez and Carlos Mencia aren't funny, so that's one problem. You avoiding every Latino comedian, though, is racist, and your second problem.
Fledz
Latino comics are still funnier than black comics though, which are in turn moderately more amusing than female comics.

George Lopez makes me cringe. I'm sure he's a nice guy but the programme is so embarrassing it... makes me cringe :(

The way they talk in that Vato slang just dumps down their act.

It does appeal to people who follow that path as they talk like that also.

Living in San Antonio (80% Hispanics...rough %). But I think that it's fairly close to the people who talk like this.

I am quit used to it, I feel like a stranger in a strange land since I am a different race and a minority, although I do no how to speak some vat slang since I grew up here, don't really know how to spell the slang correctly but I think when you talk like that, I think it lacks a bit of intelligence but that is his bread and butter.

I avoid hanging out with the Vatos, Chloes and all the other subculture that Hispanics have taking on here in San Antonio because they tend to have hot tempers, and even though they are spiritual they still like to fight....etc...and very protective of their woman to a degree that is appalling to a degree.:o

I change the channel whenever an aussie comedian comes on tv...that must make me racist too.

I think most people are a bit racist. But just cause you don't like certain comedy doesn't make you racist.

Edit: Unless there is a deeper issue.

That's the problem, his show is absolutely horrible. It's really an americanised version of what he talks about in his standup. While his standup isn't great, I think he does a good job at what he's trying to do- make jokes about what it's like to grow up with hispanic parents in the USA. That was basically my situation and as such, I can relate to a lot of what he says. That's not say I'm rolling on the floor laughing, but it's entertaining and most certainly not cringeworthy.

Comedy (esp. stand up) is only funny if one can relate to the experience the comedian is referrencing. If you have little shared experience with what Latino comedians tend to focus on then, naturally, you won't find it funny. It isn't in any way racist.
