Yeah, I think it is ridiculous that people think this.
Even worse when the actual problem is they have EQ settings applied and instead of considering that user error may be the problem, they assume that Itunes (the most widely used player in the world?) must be colouring the sound, therefore making it the tiest player on the market and advise people not to use it. |

Oh come on! It colours the sound almost as much as ableton! You can just hear the digital...
This is why I use pro tools for all my listening. |

| ..I admitted the EQ settings were on. I don't remember ever touching them but apparently at some point the bass frequencies were turned down. Either way, ing stupid of me. |

Now that I think about it I rarely use the sends in FL's mixer, if I have something simple that I'll apply to multiple channels, like delay, I'll just use an insert instead. I really hope that's not causing it..
Appreciate the offer to help, thanks. Dunno what you can surmise based off of this info though, unless it's the insert/send thing. |
Just trust me or at least humor me - The fact you don't use sends is already an indication that you overlook some pretty basic efficiency methods.
Using inserts for every instance of FX is quite uneccessary and inefficient use of your DAW, there's simply no need and you could see y big perofmance increase just be losing all the inserts. From the sound of your tracks, you also use a lot of FX which makes me think this is going to make a big difference.
So, again:
What OS do you use?
What soundcard?
How many instances of plugins/softsynths do you use typically?
What DAw are you working in? |

I replied to all of that in the quote.
Really though that's about the only thing I do that I can think of that might be inefficient.. for multiple instances of programs like Omnisphere I use layers instead of more than one synth, I group things like volume automation together for multiple bass patches that I want to fade in at the same time.. I can't really think of anything that's massively inefficient that I do on all of my tracks. |

just to continue the fun.
how many instanced of zeta do you use for your baselines? if ca 16 then this could be your problem. im not sure though, ask robby how he feels about it, he should have some experience in this area... lol. |

grouping automation won't really save your computer cpu as it does it individually regardless. The sends are a big thing especially for reverb. If you have more than 2 reverbs , you better have a nice computer. |

hah, I'm not robbie, I usually have two instances of Sylenth open for the midbass and I use magical8bit for a pulse bass underneath them most of the time. Sometimes three basses, never anything more than that. And even then I usually only use two once the track gets out of the intro.
The automation comment was just an example, I figured it doesn't help that much. I'll try using sends more often, maybe that'll help. |

Cus it has nothing to with the fact that iTunes installs itself automatically when you plug in a itoy. And especially not because its a ing hassle to uninstall. you. You know nothing. |
