the way he mixed elements of life into suburban train was pretty sick, I just wanna know what exactly he did
was there a small sample of elements of life into cue when he was sstill playing suburban train?
and was he messing around with knobs and filters?
I have no idea but if you guys would tell me that'd be great |

On topic, there are chances that this is some kind of mash up, the famous power mix was pre recorded , you can rarely see some of this guys taking risks on mixing, just think that if tiesto trainwrecks you'll have 500 topics on forums the following day.
Btw judging from the clip quality i think that he has just mixed the piano part on top of the outro of the other song, this is actually good phrasing, you beatmatch the tracks and cue in the piano part exactly when a phrase of the playing song finish. I don't think this is even perfectly executed.
And yes lightshow is very simple, this could easily be from 1995 instead of 2009. |

| Proper phrasing, properly mixing in key, EQs, maybe a filter. It was a terribly basic transition, nothing an amateur bedroom DJ couldn't do after a month of practice. Also, he plays with the filter way too much around 1:24. |

| I don't know Elements Of Life so I can't say with certainty, but it just sounds like a well EQ'd but totally linear transition to me. I would rave massively hard if I heard Suburban Train dropped in a proper set, though. |

the amount of wrong information that gets posted on here is incredible....
so tiesto DOES still play trance... if you've checked a tracklist as early as this past saturday you'd know that.
tiesto DOES trainwreck on a consistant basis, but 99% of the people at the shows don't give a crap... only elitists on the internet really care (let's be honest... most of the people at shows don't care). all of his residency shows (and every kaleidoscope show i attended in 09/10) had cameras on him in the dj booth so you could actually see him mixing, fxing, etc...
i usually don't respond to these kinds of posts anymore but just felt the urge to respond, lol...

I heard it live but sadly at the time I didn't even know it was Suburban Train...
and to others, yeah, he still plays Trance. I check his concert tracklists rather often and he still plays Elements of Life, Bright Morningstar, Suburban Train, Silence, Flight 643, Traffic, Adagio for Strings. but he also plays other old trance hits that were not his like Nalin & Kane - Open Your Eyes (Reworked Club Mix) and etc... Silence and Adagio are most likely gonna be in every set
I guess on djmag he just wanted to say that he's let go of Trance to avoid all the media attention... or something
but i wouldnt rush to the next Tiesto ticket because 80% of his songs are his newer house tracks
I guess he still can't let go of his Trance side... either he still plays it for the trance fans or he just can't entirely let go
the guy above me is right, no one really cares if people make some mistakes if you're playing live at a club. it only lasts for a couple seconds and its gone, then its left in the past and people forget about it and just wanna have a good time
light shows are awesome for Trance breakdowns and drops
so, phrasing, mixing in key, messing with EQ, and possibly filters... do you think he beatmatched it too? I'm not sure...

tiesto says something new everyweek and about 20% of the time it makes sense.
i went to his last show down here - kaliedascope - he was even then promising no trance - but of course he PLayed all the same stuff he always does.
i guess the reason hes said "i dont do trance anymore" is to try to appease the internet / trance purists of this world turning against him 'for the love of trace' - its the total opposite tact to avb - who says "i will always be trance and come to my peadofile trance family blahblah"
its all words from these guys nothing much really chenges with them though.
still havent seen the clip as a t work. :| |
