Such a fun night filled with great music and friends! I haven't seen that kind of energy in FW for a while. Great booking, keep up the great work Fw team!

Had a blast.

Great music and a really fun night. I am horrible at track iding these days but all the big Lee Foss hits seemed to be played.

Got to see a lot of people in one shot which is nice when I am only in Toronto for a night.

What a great night!

I wasn't expecting it to be that busy, nor was I sure how the crowd was going to handle the music, but wow were my worries ever put to rest! The place was PACKED (in a good way) almost the whole night, and people were eating it up. The vibe was great, there were lots of girls, and as someone said, there were smiles all around.

It was very refreshing to hear this kind of music at Footwork. Let's hope we hear more of it!

Tunes of the night were

(I'm also pretty sure this was the last song Art Department played a few weeks ago in a dizzying moment of party madness)

The 3rd or 4th song that Nitin played that has the has a gospel-like accapella with the lyrics "hand in hand... promise land".

As for Lee's set, as I said before, his programming and mixing leave a little to be desired, but the tunes he plays are so fresh sounding, and the vibe he created made it a moot point.

I wish I had spent more time on the dance floor, but there were a few people whom I had not seen in a long time, and I enjoyed the chats and good times with my friends in the back.

Also, I really enjoyed Aaron Santos' set. Although I'm biased because he's my friend, he played a great opening set.

Jeff played a great set too. You were going mental up there man! Glad to see you have such a great time.

Without trying to sound over dramatic, tonight was a game changer plain and simple.

I'd say so. That was a successful experiment if I've ever seen one.

lots of fun, great tunes and for the first time in a while I recognized tons of tracks that I really loved.

Great company made it even better.

I completely disagree! lol I thought both were flawless... The transitions kinda sound awkard but that's part of the style

agreed about the mixing. but felt programming could be better. first 30 mins or so, felt Lee was struggling a little to set his own pace but once he got into his groove, he was on fire. from 215 till about 245, he was untouchable. (and my sweaty stinky t shirt proves it lol) i thought it was good that he knew when he should end his set because the tunes were starting to drag on a little.

but this is me being a dick and picking on littlest of details lol

I really had no issues whatsoever with Lee's mixing, programming, or anything technically related - I thought for that style of music, it was the best set I've ever heard hands down. With so many elements, vocals, pianos, melodies etc, it really is a hell of a lot tougher to put together a complete set, as well as how to mix it (timing especially) - and I thought it was near flawless. I've heard several stories about Lee getting too sucked into a party, and it distracting him at times - but there was absolutely no sign of that Saturday night - in fact, quite the opposite. He arrived before midnight, and caught pretty much my entire set, which is a first for me from any headliner I've opened for.

To put the night into perspective when I made the "game changer" remark, Addy and I had a lengthy conversation about how this is exactly what the scene needed. Old school vibes (and music really) - people smiling, and positivity instead of politics. One comment I made, was that the success of the Friday "Luv This City" brand, has given Footwork's Saturdays an opportunity to take a chance on a booking like Foss, and a brand like "The Modern Love Affair". They both work hand in hand, while actually providing two very unique musical experiences.

Just thought I'd chime in elaborate what I meant, and give kudos to Footwork for making this happen. I've been in love with this sound for years, and for the first time ever - felt like it was fully embraced by everyone in a club - with no pressure to "toughen" up the music, based on current trends or popular genres. A great sign of things to come.. :)

wow...this review made me jealous and I don't even live in Toronto lol

Also forgot to mention that he completely stopped the music at 3am (to a huge ovation) then proceeded to finish his set off with 30 minutes of his "lighter" and popular material including "U Got Me" (which I thought was near impossible, considering the level of bombs he reached by that point). Where I think this would fail for most DJ's to do (especially at peak time at a club) - everyone had no choice but to eat it up. I repeat - no choice. lol
