only difference here is they have put more thought into their ing lighting and suits than the music

both of those are great, but, i really don't see a reason to judge something so heavily because of clothing or video production. it is, of course a professional video for their act after all, they're going to over do it. the music isn't your cup of tea, so be it. no offense but, lately, you've been ridiculously snobby when it comes to music. grow out of it already, it's just music. every single group and artist has their own direction and goals to achieve

i'm entitled to my own opinion, what else can i say? i dont like it - some people seem to share my opinion this time, mostly they don't. messageboards are repositories of opinions, and music messageboards are repositories of opinions about music.
i'm not singling you out personally for your opinion, and there's no reason to do so to me.
i happen to be disappointed in the decadent state of much dance music, and to me, projects like this seem like the final nails in the coffin.
and it's about as exciting as a high school marching band playing 'sex machine'.
now if charlie sheen was playing all of the instruments...

That was just boring. Would be pretty cool to see a setup like that produce interesting music though.
Just wondering Adam, is there any track by these types of hipster producers that you like? Not just this particular ensemble.

the thing with this 'ensemble' is that they are conceptually limited to making this kind of boring music, because if they were to make music that is more complex or musical, they would simply be any other ensemble, and they would be judged on a different (classical, stringent) aesthetic scale. by simply replicating basic german interpretations of house music with vintage instruments, they remove themselves from this critical vulnerability, because there is no longer any way you can judge the music itself on a subjective scale, only on a conceptual art scale, and that is one which basically says that a can of is just as much a piece of art as a mona lisa.
the band truly is the ironic t-shirt of music. It's very similar to the hipster hitler t shirts, where you replace one piece of a phrase with an anti semitic reference. (mix master race, eastside westside genocide, etc) and that is worth a chortle but nothing more.
as for your question, generally no, and more appropriately, no longer. i dabbled in nonsense like noze and all of that let's play a trumpet over a tech house track stuff a couple years ago, and then within a few months realized i never wanted to play it out, and so i just outgrew it. buying mostly vinyl also had a hand in my becoming much more selective about the music i buy.
i have nothing against 'hipsters' personally (to all eyes i live something myself of la vie bohème)
what I don't like is when people exploit and water down the music i like for the sake of irony, mere fashion, or 'pulp art'. it does bother me that i live in one of the birthplaces of modern dance music (hip hop, electro, garage, disco, and to a lesser extent house), yet of the 30000 parties that happen on any given weekend it's difficult to find one that avoids any of these problems and just plays the real , without any of the narcissism, silly irony (troxlery), 'tomfordery', or conceptual noodling that obscure it today.
that said, i had a really, really wonderful time at DJ Harvey's party last saturday.
there are definitely 'hipster' bands that i like but certainly none that take it upon themselves to try their hand at dance music. and that isn't a result of their being 'hipsters' but rather the pure result of what results when self conscious soulless people realize they can't make soulful music and so instead replace the soul and spirit of the original with irony and hyperbole in order to be able to prosume it.

I like this, mostly the video but the tracks entertaining.
This isn't their live ensemble though... I don't think?

Hahaa, I actually didn't see the end until later, but yeah. It doesn't make any sense actually.

Bahaha I was on youtube and it said you could steam into Coachella so I decided to try it for the hell of it. It wouldn't let me change channels and it got stuck on some weird ensemble group. It was so boring that even though it was blurry and wouldn't tell me who was playing I knew it could only be one group.
Like five people in the crowd are enjoying themselves tremendously (must be on acid), about half the crowd is bobbing their heads, and the other half is just standing there looking bored or texting.

There are people who were echoing your sentiment in 1992 and 1993. I read a review on discogs the other day stating that techno died for good when Richie Hawtin started getting popular, because he forced people to start thinking it had to be repetitive and minimal.
I see this attitude with particular clubs more than music, but in every field there's always the group of people who say "x has been going downhill since I started doing it" regardless of when they got into it. I've heard people say the same about the auto industry, movies, anything really. From this, you can draw one of two conclusions:
1. Everything is continually getting worse.
2. People change, and get bored with things they used to think were cool, when in fact the thing has barely changed at all.
You're just another jaded whinger, but you're two decades behind.
