Thanks for the replies everybody :)

First off, my apologies: as you wish, my sig has been edited!

Next, I agree that many releases on Beatport are junk. I'm not suggesting that tracks are automatically of a certain standard because they're available for purchase. But more often than not, a signed track will possess certain preferable qualities compared to an unsigned track (e.g. a proper master). Is this always the case? Of course not.

(Personally, I'm quite happy with the majority of the aspects of my releases from the last 8 or 9 months. But I wish I hadn't released any of my earlier works. Yes they're on Beatport - but they suck).

Anyways, I suggest a thread comprised only of signed tracks to help weed-out some of the less impressive tunes that an all-out producers thread is likely to encourage. I'm not interested in a TOTA thread that consists of any and all projects on which folks are currently working. In fact, there is an entire forum dedicated to works-in-progress.

I see this potential thread as being more about:

"Hey guys...here is my new track entitled...coming out on this date...via this label...What do you like/dislike about the track?...Which improvements can I make for my next release?...Anybody here interested in supporting the tune?...Please feel free to share the release with others..." etc etc.

P.S. Cheers Gera.

good on you for taking initiative.

i spend some time in the release discussion subform, im always on the look for new sounds, tracks(especially from locals, thats more special), but my opinion is biased as i do have stuff coming out.

however, since were on the subject of beatport, it should definitely not be limited to beatport. its just a vendor after-all. Perhaps its should be open to all vendors, and even free-release vendors(as long as its available somewhere), not everyone wants to sell their tracks and have the adequate skills to make it professionaly.

also, youtube is used by a lot of labels to promote their tracks, even pre-release... so, how about anything embeddable?

Sorry, I should have stated any official dance music download/purchase store (not Beatport specifically).

Also, yes I agree: I definitely need to re-write the 'gay' 3rd person bio hahaah. Soon ;)

Nick, i usually wouldn't write this as it is really my own approach and opinion but i'll say a couple of things. I agree with most of your points but the problem is 8-9months from now you will hate these tracks as well. As great as it is to have many releases on BP are you sure you would be happy with them let's say 10 years from now? There are many producers out there that have 300 releases and are somewhat somewhere but how many tracks do you remember from them? 1,2 maybe 3?

there are timeless tracks out there that have no expiry date, you could listen to them any time and enjoy them, strive for that bro, instead of a releasing tons of tracks on BP and having them engraved there and forgotten like trash thrown into a recycle bin try to reach your own sound that will be unique and exciting. quality over quantity and you will see the positive response.
