I like the concept of Four - everything under 650 calories. The food there is excellent and you don't leave feeling deprived.

I've seen you there.

It is a tough sell in toronto I think. However, check out Frida on Eglinton. That's the finest Mexican you'll get in Toronto.

Ya, that's what I've found in my search for a fine dining Mexican place in Toronto. From the Yelp reviews, however, it sounds like it's not worth the expense.

I'm glad you mentioned Four though. Ian and I were thinking of trying it out, but didn't know if it would fill us up!

Milagro on Mercer St is pretty excellent.

Way to say hello! I've only been there twice I think.
Lisa, if you go there, go Mon - Thurs - I went go once on a Friday and it was dead. Without people there is zero ambiance - not having any windows probably has a lot to do with that too.

I think the beauty of mexican is that it's not meant to be fine dining. the best mexican is usually from a little joint in kensington with plastic chairs or something along those lines. Fine dining mexican would seem really inauthentic to me.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately the next few times I'll be in Toronto will be weekends, but once I move back I was thinking of checking it out for lunch.

Also, with Mexican, I agree with you when I am looking for tacos, burritos etc. but the reason I've wanted to try fine dining Mexican is to try some of the entree dishes and not just tortillas + meat + cheese + pico de gallo + lettuce + sour cream in all sorts of combinations. I've been intrigued ever since Rick Bayless was on Top Chef and specialized in Mexican cuisine.
