No offence but if you feel like you can do a better job then go for it, open your own place, right? i actually commend them for all the work they've done so far, it's not really my type of music but it's easy to admit that they've done a great job.
Keep it up Beta.

it's not the listening part...whining and self promotion, bull numbers and dropping corporate names...you could have read I complemented what he was bringing to that area...no offense taken.

while i dont want to contribute to a beta vs guv thread, given the choice i would choose beta over guv without a doubt

nicer club(not grungy and dirty, good stage, good lights)
more intimate
crowd isnt shady-creepy-old(guv is terrible for this, not by choice but never the less)
mgmt isnt shady(friend lost his phone at size matters, called in and asked if there was a turned in blackberry, answer was no and hang up...youre trying to tell me out of all those ppl not one blackberry was found! please)
really the only reason i go to guv is because i live downtown toronto and they book the big name djs

there is no way that if guv lost their liqour license they would still book big name djs, zero chance... while i know beta never lost it, but they are yet to have it

Watched the ustream video, good stuff and the lighting is great. Definitely not his podcast stuff but I think he was trying to aim for songs that would be more familiar to the crowd and pump them up, anthems etc.

It's too bad in some sense that the ustream video only has the direct audio feed from the decks. The crowd energy at Beta was completely unreal and the screaming completely drowned out the music at times. Mic on the crowd would be really cool.

In time to come, that also cost money, we will have a crowd mic mixed with a direct feed once we get our license for certain events, not all events will be ustreamed as per to artists request.

Nah, I understand; that's cool. I'm surprised enough that Schossow let you stream the whole set and leave it up for download. I mean, it's easy enough to rip the entire 3 hours of audio from it... :P

I think its to show what he can do and show what Beta is like, especially since he's a resisdent ;) He/We want people coming back, this helps show it! Next time it comes, we post this link, also in time to come 4 camera's with live and mic'd feed to come eventually

So true. From the video all audio cuts out as you mentioned he did to hype the crowd. Except when you don't hear the crowd it's kind of anti-climatic lol. But ya it's wicked they do the streaming thing at all and I'm sure they'll have the live feed soon enough...

i didn't like schossow's set AT ALL, but apparently, 99% of the crowd did...he had absolutely no flow to his set what-so-ever. in fact, i'm going to go out on a limb and say it was the worst 'mixed' set i've ever heard live. if u even call cross fading to the next track, mixing. he would just drop a fat ass tech-trance track with lotsa synths/electroyness and then zip across the mixer and onto the next when he felt appropriate.

i'm not bashing his whole set, i really digged that remix of green velvet - flash that he dropped....it was ing crazzzzzzzzy!!!! but then after that he would put on a ty remix of an even tier old song...

oh and how about stop a track in mid breakdown, and on an off beat, LOL, to raise his hands and say "let's gooooo!!!!!" .... :wtf: super lame

he pretty much just dropped tracks to get all the little ravers jumping up and down and that is fine, i should've expected that (and i kind of did...but i had my separate reasons for attending) - and this is where i separate myself with the crowd and beta in general...i don't like how the dj's play the crowd because i don't like that crowd to begin with. it's age difference and where i'm at with my music at this point in time and from my generalizations from clubbing since 06

i guess i have to really pick and choose my events from now on. i have nothing against beta at all...i love the club, the sound system is far beyond anything i've ever heard besides guv and stereo and same goes with lighting.

is it just me or are the 18-20 year olds getting more and more mashed on mdma than regular, ...i remember my first time lol
