haha Why? Call me a homer, but he's the only big name DJ doing anything to save trance music. "Trance" Energy didn't happen this year, so what does he do? Throws the biggest trance even known to man, which sold out 3 weeks ago. Obviously I'm very partial, but what are Paul Van Dyk or Tiesto doing proactively to push the scene forward? A good 1/3 the DJ Mag Top 50 were first introduced to the world via Armin's radio show. |

that is so true and that's why he has climbed on top. whats crazy about it he has been the same with same ambitions ever since he has started. he has earned my respect for that. if you listen to his old interviews all he talks about is how he wants to have his own radio show and wants to introduce a more slower trance. |

very good point. however PVD is and always will be my favorite trance DJ. i really wish he'd put together something like a tiesto in concert or armin only and do a full on production show with just him for 7-8 hours!!! |

I really don't get the big deal about PvD anymore. I saw him in 2007 as my first ever trance gig, and OMGG blown away... But then I saw him this summer and it was ehhhh... then again at Terminal 5 and it was another ehhhhh.
Did he used to be MUCH better? Maybe it's just me who doesn't like his type (but I did like his In Between album tour in 2007). |

Yes!
now he is too busy running a company and promoting his label-artists to try to put in a good show... not to mention good music is hard to come by nowadays. anyways he has put in his 20 yrs. |

+1, PVD was the man, and still probably is. I would never mean to imply that PVD "sold out", especially in the Tiesto sense of the word. He's staying quiet, riding the wave, and I think he's more than earned that right. |

Then I think it's safe to say it's just my taste in music, not that PvD doesn't deliver. :clown: |

I am gonna keep this short, but effective, as I don't want to give away a bunch of my secrets lol.
If I was a DJ…
I would devote a good amount of my set to older tunes, regardless if they are 'classics' or not. There is always someone out there who might know the music.
I would build the night properly over the course of my set, and not play big riff, hands in the air, homerun tunes for 6 hours straight, or however long my set will be.
I would try keep away from playing a producers set filled with originals and remixes of my own.
I would always try my best to play great music, and sometimes it wont be the tracks that people want to hear, but they will still love it and appreciate it because of the fact that it is pure greatness.
I would try not to limit myself to one genre, its always a plus to be versatile with genres, while always playing, again, great music.
I would know the proper time to bang out, and the proper time to be gentle.
I would express my persona through the music I play and how I play it.
I would NOT have a music video of one of my own songs playing on the big screen on back of me.
I would tell up & coming producers to listen to and study the sound and style of certain DJs before they send these Djs their production material.
I would let the music speak for itself. |

Marcello, my love, I think she is upset about obnoxiously high ticket prices and maybe her statment came out the wrong way.
I think a lot of people are comparing apples and oranges here (ie comparing the ticket price of a single event in NYC, to his contribution to trance as a whole: for arguments sake, these are two totally different topics that are being intermixed unecessarily). |
