I guess you can say it's fresh, but so are my farts. This is a short trend. Good techno and house isn't as cyclical it is timeless. I actually enjoy deep house, but this mellow electro disco is odd, seems to be driven by an audience that gets cross eyed high and maybe a few hipsters too. At least from events I've been to in different cities.
Now, I'll go run for cover as I get pelted with rocks. |

You're pigeon-holing a genre based on events you've been to outside of Toronto? LOL - do you think these hipster k addicts are driving across North America waiting for these 'mellow electro disco' events you speak of? Hilarious.
The Modern Love Affair parties we've had (which features this style of music) have been some of the best I've been to in years - bringing out a sexy and mature crowd, not quite what you describe. The fact that this sound brings in everything from hip-hop to funk/disco to r&b/hip-hop and 80's pop makes me think it has more staying power than some of the generic sounding electronic music that has quite frankly been around for too long. |

so would your argument to lobby the banishment of techno apply not only with the uprising of "mellow electro disco" but to also add DubStep to the list of genres that should replace genres that have "been here too long" why not add mashup? With it's combination of staying power genres such as regge, reggaeton, hiphop, rap, electro, R+B etc |

This doesn't make any sense to me right now. I knew I should have stopped after my fourth vile of K. |

| the stuff that i do not like most about this style is its femininity and hipster orientation. All that jazz, soul, disco and rnb is too cheesy. Music for manly men should be techno and tech-house!!! |
